"Spirit isn't the worst airline in America anymore" - they beat AA (USA Today).

Spirit Airlines (NYSE: SAVE) acquired a well-deserved reputation for lousy customer service. In its drive to maximize profits while keeping costs as low as possible, the ultra-low-cost carrier implemented unreasonably high fees, while failing to prioritize on-time performance or friendly service.

As a result, it was no surprise that Spirit Airlines ranked last or second to last in each of the first three years that it was included in the annual Airline Quality Rating report.
...
However, Spirit Airlines has worked hard to improve the quality of its service over the past year and a half or so. Those efforts clearly paid off as evidenced by a big improvement in Spirit Airlines' score in the 2019 edition of the Airline Quality Rating study.... Spirit also outperformed American Airlines
Worse than Spirit Airlines.

Let that sink in.

LOL. Apparently no longer #GoingForGreat . :D

Click bait. Grabs Spirit and AA out of the mix and doesn't even show the rankings of all airlines.

Delta is #1 . And they're pretty much all improving.

Perhaps Sprirt does a better job of managing expectations, but I think it's ridiculous to suggest they they are a better airline.

Are you sure? Have you flown Spirit? Their Big Front Seats are probably more comfortable than a lot of AA First seats.

Well sandwiched between Spirit and Frontier is nothing to crow about.
I'm not sure how this indicates improvement for AA. Where were they last year? Worse than Frontier?
Good news for Spirit, I guess.
(Full disclosure - only flown Spirit once, never again; avoid AA as much as possible.)

Hey, as the PR department would crow... "our investment in passenger comfort and service continues and our ranking improvement over last four years confirms this". :D

Great chart. Obviously, AA has had great difficulty adjusting to 21st century expectations.

Bahahaha love it! Never flown Spirit mainly due to the weird schedules rather than quality. Really, most airlines are fine if you just manage expectations. Except for delays I suppose

Then there's DL. Now that's impressive.

Is this the opinion of the Gen Pop? Because for those flyers with high status in AA, it's not at all a bad airline. I have an 80% upgrade percentage (far better than DL), access to Flagship Lounges (better than DL), better redemption values (just redeemed 3x business roundtrips to Europe in May at 57,500 each -- try that on Delta).

So AA has been ranked in the near to or in bottom quarter of carriers every year for the past four years and has been the lowest ranked major, full network carrier every year for the past four years.

So?

Last time I checked:

1. Most travelers pick airlines based on price and convenience, not ratings.

2. Frequent travelers pick airlines based on maximizing benefits.

What is the point of the rating? Seriously...none

EVERY airline that practices price discrimination aggressively should be great for their high status flyers. That's the whole point of price discrimination and status upgrades.
You're characterization of AA as "not a bad airline" for those flyers seems damning with faint praise.
