Upfare / Buy Out from Basic Economy to Standard Y?
Hi,
my father took by mistake a Basic Y ticket. We would like to upgrade to standard Y. Is it possible?
Flight is ORD-LAX
Thanks

So, isn't the only significant benefit for using a Buy Out on a domestic ticket, that one gets a seat assignment as the non-refundable BE portion of the new ticket remains non-refundable?

Other than that, more EQMs and the possibility to upgrade.

Might not be that easy, depending on when purchased:

I’m actually surprised at how non-onerous that is; hadn’t realized that. I had expected the rules to be onerous, but that actually makes me more willing to buy a basic economy ticket. Instead, it sounds like if you decide you want a regular ticket, you just pay up to the current best available non basic fare on the same flights and then can change the ticket for the change fee like any other ticket. Not too bad.

That's just a link to twitter. It doesn't even show up for me on mobile.
I thought that FT rules required snippets / summaries to be copy-pasted in messages, rather than just links to external twitter feeds and blog posts, for obvious reasons. Doesn't that rule apply to everyone?

Should I have just left the incorrect reply in post #2 stand?
A simple "thanks for all the AMAZING information you provide, Jon." will suffice.
Let the little people summarize the treasure-trove of unique, not-available-anywhere-else, intelligence I provide. I've got better things to do.
Or just live in ignorance, and revel in it. As you prefer.

As it is, you've provided me with no information at all (useful or otherwise).
