It would seem that the mechanics union is targeting transatlantic flights but, if that's the case, they're going to get into a heck of a lot of legal trouble. Is it something else?
I know someone who was in J for the PHL-LHR flight on Sunday. She ended up flying next day on BA on the 747. But the overnight hotel was at a Days Inn (2.5 star motel about 10 miles down the road in a questionable neighborhood). Upon further inquiries about availability at the in-terminal Marriott at PHL, AA stated that the hotel was not available. She booked herself a room at the Marriott - probably saved herself some bedbugs, etc.
I wonder what kind of comps she could get after the fact. ??

AA258 PHL-LIS cancelled due to crew at 9:24pm eastern - with departure at 9:30pm.
I assume this was 6 minutes prior to departure and not the day before. Please clarify if I am wrong.
If not, does AA not have a 757/767 pilot-flight attendant base at PHL with a 2 hour call out?

AA42 SKED 7:40pm Now DCSN 10pm due to maintenance ORD-VCE.

Double trouble to SA today...

5/30 AA945 DFW-SCL delayed 11.5h due to crew availability
5/30 AA953 JFK-EZE delayed 11h due to crew availability

Not having a backup crew at your main international hubs is frankly pathetic IMO.

In other news...

5/30 AA240 DFW-FCO delayed 3.5h due to MX
5/30 AA198 JFK-MXP delayed 5h due to MX
5/30 AA718 PHL-FCO delayed 4h due to MX/cabin servicing
5/30 AA42 ORD-VCE delayed 3.5h due to MX/pax medical needs
5/30 AA40 ORD-BCN delayed 3.5h and counting due to MX
5/30 AA98 ORD-LHR delayed 1h and counting due to MX

ORD seems to be a real problem. Every day you can count on at least 2-3 brand new 787s "breaking" and causing 3+ hour delays.

I suspect the EZE thing isn't AA's fault. There's been a nasty strike in Argentina that's halted air service. I suspect the SCL delay could be related.

Adding some more,
5/30 AA2738 ORD-DFW overnighted to 7am today 5/31, ~8.5 hours late
5/30 AA758 PHL-ATH almost 5 hours late before cancelled for MX
5/30 AA96 PHL-BUD 2 hours late MX
5/30 AA258 PHL-LIS 4.5 hours late MX

Interesting that JFK hasn't been seen many bad MX delays.

I wonder if the mechanics are purposefully targeting TATL flights because of the EU penalties. A good way for them to feel like they’re sticking it to AA, I guess.

Was thinking about that too. Meanwhile my flight to FCO landed 30 minutes early recently.....no complaints!

I guess while they aren't forcing compensation to the US originating customers, they sure are paying out to the passengers starting out in the EU.
