DFW now has a weather waiver in effect for Saturday, 5/18, and of course I'll be flying to Hawaii via DFW then. For those in the Dallas area, when is the bad weather supposed to roll through? My flight is in the early part of the AM so am thinking of keeping it rather than trying to route via LA so I can keep the 777 lie flat.

5/18 - AA125 DFW-HKG departed 7 hours and 15 minutes late

-which of course is causing knock-on delays-

5/20 - AA192 - HKG-LAX - currently posting a 6 hour delay
5/19 - AA136 - LAX-LHR - currently posting a 2.5 hour delay (looks like they are planning to use the inbound from 135, rather than from 192)

I am booked on 5/19's 136 - connecting at LHR to JNB, in J, on a BA-coded, BA-issued ticket. Trying to decide if I try to move to another flight or if I'm comfortable with the 2 hour and 10 minute connection that I will have if the posted 136 departure time holds. Which I would be - if I was confident the departure time will hold

I would watch the arrival time of AA135 from LHR. If the arrival time is close to scheduled time at 8:40pm then I would not assume AA can really turn the plane around in 90 minutes.
I would give them more like 2 hours so I would guess more like a 10:45pm-11pm departure.
Maybe realistically plan on a 5:30pm arrival or so.
You could probably then make the BA at 7:05pm still without a problem.

Yep, that's pretty much my thinking - 90 minute turn of a 77W seems unlikely. Problem being that by the time I know what 135's arrival time is, it may be too late for any good alternative flights to Heathrow.

There is second, later BA flight to JNB so I figure at least I've got that backup.

I see AA135 is arriving 30 minutes early at 8:11pm.
Perhaps AA 136 will be able to at 10:10pm arriving LHR 4:55pm (May 10).
I would say for now it looks okay for BA55 at 7:05pm plus as you said there is a back up with BA57 at 9;25pm which looks wide open.
I also noticed the afternoon flights on BA LAX-LHR have planned slightly early arrivals LAX-LHR so perhaps you will have favorable winds that will make the flying time a bit shorter.

I would be curious to know how AA staffs reserve at airport.
Isn't there another level as well that has to be at the airport within 2 hours?
Is there even another level of reserve?

That LHR-DFW leg could be very expensive for AA.

AA 1665 LAS-CLT on 5/19 ó almost 7 hours delayed for mechanical issue with a radio. It turned out to be some sort of RF interference which was cured by parking the plane at a different gate.

Gate agents handed out our meal vouchers- which seemed awfully difficult for the agent to produce.
