LAA A321-200 / 321 two class A321 First / Business Seat (pre-Oasis)

My wife and I and our baby are flying AA 162 from HNL to LAX in April. I tried to book an economy award, but none are available so I ponied up the miles for first. The baby gets her own seat, she doesn't do well as a lap infant. The only rows with 3 consecutive seats (ACD or CDF) are 1 and 4. I know 1 doesn't have storage space in front (a must for baby bag), but Seatguru says that row 4 has "limited recline" since it's right in front of the class divider. How limited are we talking here? I couldn't find any info about this plane in particular. AA says the plane is A321, I believe it's the A32B.

Row 4, probably - the bulkhead in 1 isn't so pleasurable, IIRC. It's been a while since i've flown the AA 321

32B has a full recline. I would choose that over row 1. I’ve never sat in LUS a321 so I’m not sure. Also keep in mind even your flight shows as 32b it can be switched to LUS a321 garbage plane at any time.

LUS 321 isn’t certified to fly that route.

I’ve done it in row 1 before and it was miserable. I’d take row 4 all day long.

I'm not sure how old your baby is, but I always found Row 1 to be the best when my son was ~9-18 months - it gave him a little room to stretch his legs without disturbing anyone; it's also closest to the bathroom for those diaper changes.

+1

Row 1 is basically in the galley. Avoid at all costs.

And not much leg room.

Assuming the A321 configuration is one with recliner seats, how limited is the recline in row 4?

Does AA fly lie-flats from the west coast to Hawaii? If so, which routes and which equipment?

Here's the master thread for this aircraft:

I would probably choose Row 4 over Row 1. Even if there is limited recline, I don't think it's a huge difference.

No. Only to DFW (and ORD during the winter).

Edit: I spoke too quickly. Apparently, AA does run an A330 on one of the HNL-PHX flights at certain times of the year.

it’s not limited recline at all. Seat slides forward when you recline so bulkhead behind is not an issue
