Total newb question: if they were done at PAE, was it Boeing directly who made the mods to their own planes and screwed up?

OMG or how about then the whole Super 80 fleet (when this was like half the mainline fleet) was grounded due to some wiring issue back in 2008! That was a complete nightmare.

Yeah but AA had a double EQM promotion afterwards. Parker would never go for anything like that possibly unless UA and DL did it to try to capture pissed off elites that had flights canceled.

From what I have heard, of 14 Oasis 738 birds modified at PAE two had faulty Space bin installations and the others are being held for inspection and verification. As bthotugigem05 posted.

I was on an Oasis Retfit 738 last week, DFW-IAH, that had several bins with caution tape and out of order signs. Luckily the flight was not full.

So what's the actual issue? Bins coming open during flight, falling off the ceiling, or what?

Oasis is already taking victims. Maybe this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back for AA executives?

According to the local news here in Dallas, it is a mixture of missing bolts, cable ties used instead of bolts and misrouted cabling. They showed various still images to back this up.

Link to NBC Channel 5 Video.

Incorrectly routed cabling, missing bolts, loose bolts, zip ties substituted for bolts on two aircraft, twelve more grounded for inspection. AA mechanics said some bins were “popping open”. These are the new Space bins that allow six bags instead of four per bin. These bins were fitted as part of the Oasis retrofit by ATS / Aviation Technical Services at PAE / Paine Field, Washington. Only ATS has been implicated in the bin installation errors.

Why would issues with putting a much improved bin in have anything to do with the rest of the project? Don't we like the better bins?
