As long as AA was just asking, just say no.

OMG, that seems like a liability waiting to happen. Good thinking to decline.

That's exactly what I said to Mrs. EnPremiere when they've even hinted at room sharing.

The only problem is when I forget a charger, I have to run over to hers

I don't understand. If you are a married couple, what is wrong to share a room? It is not like two strangers being put together?

It is your personal choice and I get that. But have you thought about some other people may not get a room due to the fact that you husband and wife decide to take two different rooms?

And did you take two rooms or one in the end?

What is appropriate in this situation?
- 27 hour delay
- 4 hours on plane with no service (drinking water, food, or otherwise)
- 1 hour + with no running water or restrooms that could be flushed.
- hotel paid by airline
- limited personal out of pocket expenses
- use of SWU to go to first but HND-DFW was J amenities since HND doesn’t support F. No bedding, pajamas, amenity kit, J menu, J wines.
Neither I (booker of the ticket) or GF have gotten ANYTHING from AA yet.

What kind of communication have you (or the passenger, more appropriately,) initiated with AA?

The post was intended to be humorous in an otherwise serious thread. It clearly failed in that regard.

Calls with them day of issue and day after, and in person when picking up the bags day after she arrived, and also emailed Customer Care now early this morning. Meant to more clearly state there was nothing proactive in the form of comunication to either of us as of yet.

Not sure why you felt it nessisary to complain then, as opposed to just not reading the thread?

I don't think the OP is complaining a lot. I think this thread is likely to be very educational for someone who is just starting a long flying history. With regards to laundry, we have had AA misdirect our luggage twice on long hauls. We were done after that with checking luggage (except golf clubs). We rarely do sink washing. And have never had a bad laundry experience. On the other hand our stuff is all travel clothing, up to business casual.

AA flight attendants like to say "we know you have a choice of airlines...". Remember that for future flight bookings. Other options to HKG include a Chicago-based airline, and another OneWorld airline with lots of USA-HK non-stops .

I wouldn't be surprised if AA tried to blame the diversion on weather, so they can weasel out of paying compensation.

Wow, sounds horrible. OP please update when you can with what kind of compensation was offered and if AA reimbursed your expenses in Tokyo. That is not a cheap place to divert.

Up till recently, I lived in Chicago so was a usual on CX HK-ORD and UA HK-ORD. She wanted the direct flight this time so I did so, now she knows to listen to me I basically keep OWE on AA for CX and JAL anyways.
