Help on reason for AA 4775 (PHL-JFK) cancellation 25 Jan 2019?

I was on AA 4775 (PHL-JFK) today to connect with a flight to Europe. It cancelled @ 10AM. Got AA to keep me on my original JFK-MXP flight and will drive to JFK to catch it (they had rebooked my on BA PHL-LHR-LIN automatically and it took 40 minutes to get me back on my original flight - which was preferable for a number of reasons).

Can't seem to find out why it cancelled. Can anyone tell me where I can find that out? Alternatively, if you can find out, please share.

Thanks

All flights out of PHL got hit with a weather/high winds delay, average of 2hr delay. I can see the small e-145 flights just being cancelled outright for that delay.

Why not simply ask AA?

The micro-hauls are the first to be cancelled or delayed when there is any kind of additional spacing, so MathMusic seems to have the likely answer. But, AA will certainly confirm for you.

While it won't be much, after your return, you are due a refund of the fare difference which AA will base on relative mileage.

AAMCI, for future reference, where can you find this info? Is it publicly available somewhere?

Should've tried for rebooking on EK if there were no other non-stops

Another option to avoid driving to JFK would be have AA reroute you on AA/BA to LHR and onwards on BA to MXP. May be slightly less ideal timing, but that has to be a messy drive.

OP said that they did auto rebook him PHL-LHR-LIN but prefered the JFK-Malpensa for various reasons.

Thanks all. Drive not bad 2 hours. Got there in time to spend an hour @Flagship. On plane now. Looked on expertflyer.com but couldn't find the info. LIN arrived 6 hours later and blew up my car rental @ MXP - difference was $500 for two weeks.

"Flight Status"
"Search By Flight" (not "Search By City Pair")

Then choose "View Additional Comments" link below the flight listing.
