Thanks, everyone. Sounds like it's nice if I can swing it on BA for a value but not worth a whole lot over J. The real experience is on other carriers.

I am not sure if this is true. I too have never experienced it but I usually read people saying something like its the world's best business class (meaning that its more like a souped up J then a true F experience).
I guess what I am ultimately saying is that the OP should read some reviews because its worth reading multiple perspectives before jumping in.

IF you head over to BA forum bear in mind that some are believers in home town biases and often laud how it feels to be home. MY experimce with them is, I voted with my wallet and switched to others.
Still it is upto you. LH 747-8 F and Frankfort F lounge is " to die for", I hear. SEe if you can find a Trip Report by SFO 777.

If you wish to have a salad starter, and soup (as I do) these are always available on the menu. The cheese board is delicious too.

I’d say BA 747 F is inferior to BA A380 F by quite a bit.
And IMO BA F is far from being “the best in the world”. Singapore, (the following are bookable with AA miles), Cathay, Etihad, Japan and Qatar all eclipse BA.

The real question is "Is AA biz worth twice the price of BA" Looking at flights to London early July on the AA website. BA prices are around $3000 RT (as an AA codeshare) and AA on the same days over $6000!!!! Something very wrong with this.

If it’s about flying certain aircraft, BA 747-400 J in the SUD 53A or K, or 63B or J, would fulfill my svheek inclinations.
I’ve sometimes found BA F more affordable than AA J.

That's not what has been said exactly.
It is usually said that "BA F is the best BUSINESS CLASS cabin in the world".
In Flyertalk language:
BA F > any airline J
Contrary to what a poster said above, I don't find QR J better than BA F.
Has QR updated ALL its aircraft to have all aisle access in J?

You are EXP so if you can get seat 1A or 1K it is definitely something you should experience at least once. It is just AWESOME sitting in the nose of the plane!!!!
I say do it; I have flown it 3 times now and it never gets old!!!!

The breakfasts really aren't all that different than the F Lounge.
I don't drink alcohol so I cannot comment on that.
