I'm flying to/from europe, all in business, on AA miles this summer. AA metal on TATL legs so no fuel surcharges.

So, no, they are not useless.

I'm going to re-ask:

Because MileSAAver WAS-LHR on AA is available nearly every single day in May, for 4 pax.

Just picking two dates, May 8 outbound shows 32 flights and May 21 return shows 36 flights, all available SAAver awards on AA.

Looks like AA doesn't fly to NAP, so they're dependent on Iberia for awards.

I must be missing something.

Why does it have to be AA metal? Why not Finnair, etc?

And Iberia, Air Tahiti Nui (LAX to Paris)

Those are all coach awards. Business mile saver is all that matters.

You are missing something.

The OP didn’t specify if he was looking for economy or business awards.

No. CPRich specifically asked OP whether he/she wanted Business or Economy and pointed out that there appears to be sufficient coach availability. Don't know where you got the "Business mile saver is all that matters". Maybe that's all that matters to you, but that is not what is being discussed here.

That's in Economy.. (May 14-22)....... What class are you looking for?
Sorry, I should have included in my post that I'm looking for business/first. I don't find much value in using miles to fly TATL in Y. I'd rather just pay for economy. Just a personal preference. To each their own.

This is the worst I have seen it. I found SAAver J awards for April 2019 back in Nov 2018 for FCO. Haven’t seen anything decent for May or later, then or since. It get worse every year for J awards. Last year I was able to get a J award to CDG in October (space opened in May 18). It’s not useless, but difficult.

What I have found is that AA will release some Bus seats 7, 5, or 3 days before if they are unsold and while you pay a change fee, you will save the BA fees in LHR. As long as your starting and ending location are the same, it is just the change fee which is far less than the LHR taxes and fees. But this is risky, but has worked 3 out of 4 times for me.

Let’s be honest—the majority of posters here are looking for biz saver vs coach as most people would probably pay for coach (as I do) and can’t afford and/or wouldn’t want to spend $5-8K on a ticket (like me).

That's just flat out untrue.

Business class may be all that matters to you. Business class may be all that matters to the OP.

But plenty of people are happy to redeem coach.

Edit to add: "Useless to me" is not the same thing as "useless in general."
