LAX>DFW on 789?

Flying today on Flt #99 and looked like the plane was swapped from a 737-8 to a 789 which is inbound from Shanghai. Anyone know if this is repositioning aircraft? Didn’t think there was a daily using this aircraft but could easily be wrong.

There is at least one daily scheduled 789 each way between LAX and DFW.

I was on one of those new planes. Cool stuff. I asked AA they said, to ensure the plane is making a profit, usually there's only one flight from lax to asian per day, so they will send the plane to dallas and back to keep the plane in the air instead of sitting on the airfield.

Believe its a 788. The only times I've ever flown a 788 or 789 have been domestic runs. I've upgraded on both aircraft - once each. I'm content with the 789 as every time I've been able to grab a PE seat.
