Does AA Vacations code as airline for credit card miles earn?
I was wondering if AAvacations.com coded as airlines for the 5X points on Amex Platinum ?

I tried it anyway since I'm trying to build amex points for my honeymoon.
The charge came across as American Airlines ( Travel- Airlines )
Sometimes things change on amex though after the charge posts. I will update this thread once the charge finalizes

Amex confirmed that I would earn 5X points since the charge billed as an airline and there was no mention of a vacation package anywhere.
I purchase LAX - NRT Flights + Hotel package.
Booked the flights for 9 days.
Throw- away hotel for 3 nights as it saved me $425 on each ticket.
Flights booked under I* which is an AA special fare.

Second, if you don't mind my asking, roughly what month of the year did you book these tickets for? If this was $4118 for two tickets (i.e. $2059 per ticket) that is a pretty stunning deal for paid business. Or are you just showing one charge for one ticket?

This trip is in March. It took me forever to find that price and it was only good on the dates I selected. 12 day stay with $140 off with AA vacation sale. Price before discount was $4258.
I just checked and the price has gone up for the dates I booked but managed to find LAX-NRT pricing at ~ 2400 per person for 2 travelers March 12-20
