Basically an updated version of the A-300 which used to fly frequently from Miami and JFK to South America.
Honestly if they would retrofit the 333s they'd be fine. Right now though they've got that USAir feel...

They would directly replace the 763s. Meanwhile, American also ordered 25 additional 789s that won't start delivery until 2023. These are meant to replace the A330-300s and some of the older 777-200s.

Here's the article from The Points Guy: https://thepointsguy.com/news/aa-con...-cancels-a350/

I know the article says the 789s would replace the A330-200, but I think it's supposed to be -300.
Hey! Wait it minutes! It was very old news, but there's no new orders from Boeing today. Can't they orders 787-10 or 777X?

I've traded Dash-8's and CRJ200's for E145's out of PHL over the last 12 months or so, and I couldn't be happier. The former is fleet upgrade by PT, and the latter is route replacement when ZW's contract wasn't renewed.

At least the "A" seats on the ER4 aren't pure torture, and 12A is almost luxurious for anything out of Terminally F'ed.

From what I've heard, after flying on an reconfigured 737-800 hell ship, you might find the A-319 to be pleasant.

Three things that need to happen with the fleet:
  • A332s need a business class and economy refresh. New seat covers aren't enough. The IFE system is out of date.
  • A333s need the same along with a premium economy retrofit if they are going to last another 4 years in the fleet! (at least)
  • A320s need power, for crying out loud

I would vote to get rid of the A320s. Im guessing that since they're 98% common with the A319s (parts and training), that there is no compelling reason to ditch them.

The 320s aren't that old. The subfleet avg is 18 years, and even the oldest probably has 5-8 years of flying left. An interior refurb - pivot bins, seats, power - would be appropriate.

I'd rather see the LUS A321s get power before the A320s given the A321s tend to operate transcons. Going that long without power is difficult at best.

The LUS A321s are getting refurbed this year with seat power and new bins. It's the A320 that I've seen no announcement to refurb and they desperately need it.

The 150-seat A320s fill a capacity gap between the 128-seat A319s and the 172-seat 738s.

I came across this as I was looking through AA's fleet stats on Wikipedia today. Some changes to the fleet plan for 2019-2021, as of July 25.

A couple notable changes include:
  • Keeping all 304 737-800 aircraft until at least the end of 2021. (Originally, some of the older frames were to begin retirement in 2020).
  • Keeping the 757-200 fleet count steady at 34 until sometime in 2021. (Originally, those 10 LUS "Hawaii" planes were to be retired at the end of this year, now slated for retirement in 2021. Yuck.)
IMO, 993 aircraft by the end of 2021 seems like a lot, but as stated in the document, "These extensions will allow more flexibility in dealing with the grounding of the 737 MAX and the late delivery of some A321neo aircraft, as well as providing modest and efficient growth in the fleet."

Here's the link..fleet information is on page 3:

aa.com...newsroom...fact sheets...fleet and operations...fleet fact sheet.

I took a photo but it won't let me upload it.
