Any insight into AA123 DFW-HNL on 2/28? Was J7I7W7 this morning, down to J5I2W2. Am I safe to think PEY is oversold and they're holding back J seats to accommodate upgrades? There are still plenty of unassigned seats in J - I know they could be taken by J pax without seat assignments but I'd find that odd on a Hawaii route. Fingers crossed!

Any thoughts on upgrade odds CLT-LHR? 2 weeks out EF shows J7 with 11 unassigned seats. Gold now (but plat at time of booking and request) with pretty low rolling EQD. Thanks in advance. |
I’m guessing OGG-DFW is a tough upgrade in the flight with lie flat seats. I’m going in business to HNL, and wanted to spend the weekend on Maui or Kauai. I’d likely retiurn on a Monday in November. I had originally planned on Kauai, and got an Anytime return (Lih-lax-Mia) on a Sunday for 55k for my wife. Figured I’d use an SWU or pay to go from Y to J. Then I realized OGG-DFW is a lie flat, so was thinking about switching- but with the new anytime rates, it’s 87.5k on a Monday and 110k on a Sunday (one way). So I’m wondering if the SWU has a shot. |
Question about EF and upgrades...I see the below for my flight Saturday and am wondering why I’m not already upgraded. I thought C inventory meant basically immediate upgrade? Definitely within the 100 hour window. (It’s the first flight listed, btw) https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...cc1da6ce07.png |

yes, just my standard EXP upgrades. Okay, I didn't know they came from a different class. C is just cheap award / SWU, then, right?
edit: not sure why I can't delete this, meant to "quick respond" to iadisgreat. |

Mine is oversold. 4 spots available in business and almost 10 people on the list. I have no chance of clearing, according to the AA person who checked my chances at the lounge. Oh well. I better drink some more wine before boarding! ;)

Any insight into LAX - AKL SWU? I'm EXP and would be flying on a Thursday in Nov. Route is non-stop as well, so I'm weary that it'll actually clear :(

I’m loving upgrades on award tickets.....MEX-DFW-LGA all cleared well in advance and with a rather last minute booking. |

Same for me.I flew lax-hkg on the 17th. 24 hours before departure there was 20 seats and t-8 there was 6 open seats but i cleared shortly before t-4
When I spoke with EXP desk a few days later for a different matter I inquired about getting seated in J vs Y on the CX flight. I was told that once the SWU clears, you have a J ticket and if you need to be put on a different airline, they must put you in the equivalent cabin. So, I am thinking (as I write this I am on the upgrade waitlist for AA192 on 2/27) that since this flight, if there is a delay, could be a major delay, they would rather not have to deal with a whole bunch of J pax that need to be accommodated. So if they delay the upgrade until they know for sure the flight has a strong likelihood of leaving relatively on time, they they can save a themselves a lot of hassle by keeping lower-cost options open. |

Maybe, who knows. My SWU HKG-DFW cleared around 28h before departure a few weeks ago. around T24, the flight did the same thing as you mentioned here... delayed until the next morning at 7am (vs. 3:45pm departure). I immediately called with specific flights I wanted on CX via LAX and they rebooked us into an I fare. Got the EQM for I and not W, too. And they didn't take out an SWU. I don't think the system had enough time to fully process it out of my account before we changed flights. :)

Hmm, when I experienced IRROPs on my flight to Tokyo (upgraded from W to J with SWU), I asked AA to put me on a CX flight via HKG since it was the only flight option available would still get me into TYO on the same day. I was told since the ticket was upgraded using a SWU, AA could only rebook me in J on AA-operated flights. I've seen on FT that this is agent dependent, but does anyone have insight into whether customers are technically allowed to be rebooked in J on partner airlines if originally upgraded via a SWU?

I just cleared for Friday afternoon DFW-DTW.
I noticed my new seat assignment is labeled "business" as opposed to "first". Now I know when I fly DFW-MEX it says business as that is what AA markets it is but I thought pure domestic legs were still called "first". |
