As have all programs.

There is no way to use the 500 mile stickers as a non-elite correct?

IIRC, non-elites can theoretically use them on full-fare tickets.

That was discontinued quite some time ago.

Just make sure your account doesn't go completely dormant due to inactivity, in which case everything gets wiped out.

I'm glad the OP asked. I was Gold last year and had one sticker leftover. I noticed it has stayed in my account (while I went down to Nothing). So, good to hear that it will be useful after December when I will qualify for Gold again.

I believe that if you are travelling on the same PNR with an elite AA person, the upgrade can be taken from your account.

AA 500-miles upgrade on JFK-lax business to first?

I am aa platinum, and I have sixteen 500- mile upgrade to burn. I am planning jfk-lax with one companion in paid business class. Does 500-mile upgrade work from lowest paid business class to first class on such high-demand route? and what's the chance to clear for both of us (only I am platinum) for a Monday-7pm flight JFK-lax in next August....???

500-mile upgrades are only available from Economy to the next higher cabin, so unfortunately your chances are zero unless you spring for miles+money.

SWUs can also be used, either earned from million miler activity or given (freely) by someone else.

Short 1 500 mile sticker

My balance says 3 stickers on the AA web app but 4 on the main website. Anyway I'm flying phx-dtw Thursday and on the app I clicked the "request upgrade" button. I didn't buy another cert because 1. I rarely get upgraded on a long haul as a plat and don't want to throw away $40 2. I can't tell if I really have 3 or 4 total balance and 3. I'll be EXP after this flight.

What happens if I do clear Thursday? Will the gate agent be asking for $40? I'll gladly pay it of course if I clear.

Good Luck!!

Contemplating the same type of situation myself as I too will be traveling on Thanksgiving as well. Happy with my window A321 exit row seat 23A (no seat in front of me) at the moment.

Wish I could give you one. I have 3 and will never have status so AA has been sitting on my money for years.
