Photos are welcome and very helpful. Those are guidelines, but of course, the format/style is all yours. Of course, discussion of improvements and/or cutbacks, questions, and thoughts are also welcome.

Format Sample
This is a format you can use when introducing your meal report. This is just a sample format; deviations are expected and are okay. However, if the flight is taken on a 777 in Business, please clearly indicate if you're in 2- or 3-class Business. If you want to see other examples of past formats, check out historical Int'l meal threads - or just post the same way you've always done.

Not terrible, but indeed a very confused dish.

- The "red curry" as actually green curry and was entirely in the separate dish to the bottom right. The stringy stuff seemed to be a type of crab.
- The rest of the dish was quite predictable, though the grits needed some salt.
- Can't for the life of me understand how the crab curry is supposed to fit with the rest of the dish. I don't doubt that there was at least a vague culinary concept in mind when this item was concocted, but I genuinely want to know what it is.
Seems as conceptually reasonable as the Asian Chicken Caesar Salad Wrap that I had on a regional jet... one too many modifiers... I guess they like vague nods to culturally diverse flavors

Flew AMS - PHL this week in Business, on an aging 767-300. I had forgotten how tiny the overhead bins were on these relics, but I digress.. This was the menu and I had the prawn appetizer, which was good, the sea-bass dinner, which was ok/good, the Mediterranean salad ( no pic, sorry, forgot) which was decent and the berry tart dessert, which was excellent. I was in the last row of Business, and they ran out of all white wine except champagne before I could order , and also ran out of hot towels after the meal. Overall, the meal was OK, nothing exceptionally good or bad, except the dessert which was yummy. Good FAs on this flight too. The FAs on my connection PHL - CLT were awful, rude and slovenly.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what the best special meal(s) would be on an AA flight from Italy to the USA in Y?

At this point I have to recall American Psycho and wonder when charcoal arugula will be served up with a side of mud soup in F.

Hot towels after the main service? I don’t recall seeing that being part of the sequence.

Unfortunately, this flight was a total disaster. The crews were basically unprofessional and unorganized. The service was just not polish. The flight was running a bit late, as the inbound arrived late from Dallas, but it was no excuse to the behaviors of F/A including throwing the pajama to me over my shoulder. The menus were only handed out to a few passengers, and when she took my meal order, I told her that you never gave me the menus. She kept on skipping me and the other guy at 1D. The catering was better than before but it was more like a business class menu on the first-tier airline. The pre-arrival brunch service was once again disorganized and the purser once again skipped me and 1D again. I did not get my first choice, which was the noodle dish, but there were plenty of egg dishes left.

PHL to FCO Meal Choice Surprise Swap
On the fight out of PHL on 21 May 19 (the flight with the 4.5 hour delay owing to engine repair), we were given the following pre-booking choices:
Filet Mignon
Panko Crusted Prawns
Pommery Mustard and Honey Baked Chicken
Four Cheese Spinach Ravioli.

Since I had had the not-terrific but okay prawns and chicken before, I went for the Filet Mignon. The flight attendant said, as she passed by my seat, "We have your order," and I nodded. What came instead of the filet was an inedible Short Ribs item, so salty that the salt burned the inside of my mouth, so I didn't eat it. don't get why they send you an email asking you to pre-order if they are not going to give you what you order. It's a very small thing, but a company that is not paying attention to the small details may not be paying attention to the big ones, either. The unannounced meal swap made me think twice about the plane's engine being rebuilt with used parts (they included that information in a delayed-boarding announcement). Was the detail work being handled adequately by the AA mechanics?

Burned an SWU from J to F on an LHR-DFW flight upcoming.

Anyone had the "Braised Tuscan Beef Stew" in F recently? I decided to pre-order it mainly because it's served with "crispy polenta".

My other choice would be the "Roast Chicken Dinner", which sounds boring.

Meal choices, AA Premium Economy JFK-LHR 1020am flight end of June

Reserve a meal

Flights

  • JFK to LHR

    Lunch meals
  • Choose later
  • Oven-Roasted Beef
farfalle pasta, roasted mushroom cream sauce, cherry tomatoes
  • Butternut Squash Risotto
    red pepper coulis

Beef sounds like it may be OK, but as someone who does not fly business or first, I've never had edible beef on a flight. I like risotto, so. . . These sound like regular economy meal options. Is that the case for AA? PE = economy food with free drinks?

I have the exact same menu on my LAX-LHR flight in mid June. I opted for the beef and my wife opted for the risotto, so I will try to report back after our flight if I remember.

I was in PE from LAX to HKG on Saturday and there was a slight difference in the food between PE and Y in that specific dishes on the cart were designated as PE meals (the dishes themselves were slightly larger and ceramic), but I have no idea if the food was any different.

Breakfast

Options:
- Smoked Salmon Hash - béarnaise sauce, vine tomatoes and sautéed spinach
- Chicken and Waffles - jalapeno cream gravy

Debating between that and a KSML, because they tend to be very good out of London.
