The chicken sounds reasonable, but not so spectacular. Should i take my chances and choose on board? Or is there a big difference between pre-booked mails and choose later/onboard meals??
There is no difference in meals between what’s available to pre-order and what’s available on board. The only difference is that by pre-ordering in advance, you have a much better* chance of getting what you wanted vs. having it run out by the time the FA gets to your seat to ask for your choice.

*it’s not a 100% guarantee though as occasionally, my selection fails to make it to the FAs meal sheet.

So the same meals as pre-ordered are also available on board? No other meals.

yeah same meals. But if you wait to order on board, you may not get your first choice. Just pre-order especially if you are seated towards the back of J

Just this had on MAD-DFW AA157. Pre-order acknowledged. The entire meal was average. I had the chicken which was a decent piece of chicken breast. the broccoli stuffing was forgettable. the rest felt like a microwave dinner. Even the ice cream sundae toppings tasted cheap and overly processed. Friend had the salmon said it was overdone which made it inedible. I noticed someone having the Potato Korma and it looked decent.

FA working my side worked hard and was friendly. Purser and Galley SlAAve phoned it in and were generally disinterested. How hard it is for the AA FAs working International J to actually follow SOPs, be friendly and maybe even call pax by their name?

I was underwhelmed by the meal. The carrots were decent, but the prawns were quite overcooked (the chutney made it a little more palatable).

The champagne and sundae were good (I wish I would have tried the mousse, but didn't even see it until writing this post). The fruit plate in the morning was actually good too (normally, I find the fruit to be under-ripe).

I failed you all on the return flight (AA135 LHR-LAX). I had a long layover and filled up at the lounges (QF lounge in T3 is the real hero here). I did have the "set-up" (so everything but the main). Salad was spinach, cherry tomatoes, carrots, and sultanas with balsamic vinaigrette. Small plate was shrimp over guacamole, served with a smokey sauce (don't remember what it was exactly), and was decent.

I’m flying MIA to EZE in a couple of weeks. I was able to select dinner, online, for MIA-EZE AND EZE-MIA. Do you only have the option to preselect dinner and not the pre-arrival meal?

Pre-arrival will be breakfast. Usually there is an EGG option (omelette, fritata, quiche, etc) and a FRUITS & YOGHURT option.
You will be given the choice to select them upon boarding, including the possibility to skip it altogether to maximize sleeping time.
Yet, even if you decided to pass on breakfast the night before, they will serve it if you are awake (and hungry) when they are working the service (approx. 1.30hs before arrival).

AA908 - EZE/MIA - 26/Aug.2019
Business Class

PDB of OJ, Proseco or still water.
Drinks from the cart with warm nuts for starters.
Then the following menu:

I went for the SEAFOOD/FISH option.

Blandest meal I've ever had.
The greens on the salad were quite withered.
Neither the fish nor the sauce had any flavor.
The veggies were a bit bitter.
I ended up eating the shrimp (which was just ok, would have loved more of the grilled pineaple) and 3 cubes of cheese from the salad.
Ice-cream for dessert was quite low quality (including the cookie crumbles).

I passed on breakfast and prefered to try my luck at the MIA Flagship Lounge (good choice as I had one of the best omelettes ever!).

Normally I don't have much of an issue with airplane food, but this was a big disappointment.

HKG-LAX in F, July:
  • Peking Surf and Turf, wok-seared beef filet, prawns, water chestnuts, spinach noodles, sweet Peking sauce
  • Seed-crusted Filet of Cod, kale and sun-dried tomato basmati rice, asparagus, Genovese sauce
  • Pan-fried Rice Rolls matsutake mushrooms, sweet and spicy sauce
  • Forbidden Rice Breaded Chicken mapo tofu, seared rice cakes, choy sum
Thinking about ordering a special meal on HKG-LAX, none of those options sound very appealing.
What’d you end up getting on LAX to SYD? I have the same menu coming up.

Flying MIA - EZE at the end of the month (11pm departure)

Any recommendations? Or should I just skip dinner and go straight to sleep and rely on the Flagship Lounge at MIA for dinner?
