AA Visa check - LAX-HKG-India

I am ticketed for a flight from LAX to HKG on AA and then connecting flight on Cathay to CCU.
Most likely need to drop the connecting leg to CCU and go somewhere else.
Does AA check for the India visa at checkin?

Yes. You will almost certainly be denied boarding at LAX. If you plan on "dropping" the second segment, cancel it so that when you arrive at LAX, you will only be ticketed to HKG. In addition, make sure that if your nationality or purpose of travel would require onward or return travel from HKG, that you have that as well.

And be sure it’s accurate. Indian authorities have been known to require passengers with any even minuscule error or discrepancy in their documentation to exit immediately on the flight they arrived on, so the CX agents may be a bit strict about any apparent discrepancy or error.

Thanks everyone. Evisa is awesome. Seems much easier than the previous process.

I print two copies of everything for travel to India (Evisa, itineraries, e-tickets). You just never know when someone in uniform at an Indian airport is going to ask to see your documentation.

That's a great point! If you do go to India, make sure you have a printed copy of your itinerary. I had a tough time just getting inside the airport when I was leaving... I eventually convinced one of the guards that the TripIt app was legit, and it had my outgoing flight info.

I have learned over the years that when dealing with petty bureaucrats, the "documents" have a lot more power than emails, PDF's and the like. To top if off, purchase a box of gold paper seals and some blue ribbon to stick onto the "documents" and you will fund yourself saluted.

Remember to PRINT a physical copy of Visa. LAX doesn't print for you.
