getting holiday award flight with AA
I know AA only allows you to book 331 days in advance. I am trying to snag qatar airways flights during the christmas holiday 2019, and im afraid if I wait until AA opens their award system, I will have lost my award tickets to members of BA/CX/Qantas. Anyone know if 331 days out still has great availability or has experince booking award flights during the christmas/new years holiday?

Award from where to where, what class and for how many people?
Christmas holiday time is a popular time for paid travel, so awards can be limited on all airlines.
On the QR forum QR freq flyers have difficultly with awards.
Awards can become available any time from T-330 to much closer to departure. They are not "only" available at T-330.
Award availability varies a lot:- no one can predict availability.

QR AA forum---> QR / Qatar Airways oneworld Partner: Earn and Redeem AA Miles

- 23 Dec ===>hard. A peak time for travel. 1000's will be travelling that day. The Monday before Christmas.
- J class =====> harder
- 2 people======> much harder again
I would be looking for a contingency plan--> buying with real money

Generally awards can be cancelled, albeit at a cost (but not 100% sure for Asiamiles)
