Upgrading Econ/"O" to Premium Economy

Question from a non-regular AA/OneWorld flyer..

Any idea what it would take to upgrade an economy / "O" fare into premium economy? It's RT LAX-BKK on a mix of AA and Cathay Aircraft.

Would it just be paying the fare difference? Fare difference + change fee?

Alternate question - any chance of day of departure upgrade for $ at checkin? No elite status on AA or CX.

You can always re-book and pay the fare difference + change fee. That is essentially a new ticket. AA does not yet offer mileage upgrades into Premium economy.

During check-in they will offer the upgrade for a fee if seating is available. I am not sure if it is a flat fee or how it is calculated. The only time I saw it myself was LAX - GRU and the fee was $400.
