AAdvantage Buy Back and Boost / Buy Up Status

AA generally offers members reasonably close to requalifying for status near the end of the year the option to buy back their existing status, or on occasion to buy up to the next highest status tier.

These offers are generally made by email to AAdvantage members beginning some time in November.

If you have not received an offer or would like to see your offer (if any), you can see it by visiting https://elite.aa.com

If you haven’t flown sufficiently, you’ll probably sign in and see

Since the last flight miles just posted today, anyone think the price will go down in a day or two? The cost seems higher than what others have posted who are at about my point for the year.
Yes, it likely will. It typically takes a day or two for the buy-up offer to update after new activity posts to the account.

No thanks

i had previously been given an offer to retain my Exec Plat status for $2495; today I received a special offer to retain my status for a mere $1795.
Min just back from a mileage run to Maui for $836.

$995 for PlatPro (LOL)
$3765 for EXP

Yeah, no thanks. I (or Mrs. pa3lsvt) fly F for leisure most times anyway and my PlatPro benefits are adequate when we don't. Otherwise, I'm just commuting to work through an airport and, again, my PP benefits are adequate for the task.
Ooooo, now it's only $3375 for EXP for me. Looks like the system recognized I hit PP. I even received an email to call my attention to the new offer.

I've got a decent offer to upgrade that does not include "within 5 days" (just for a "limited time") and it will count to my 2018 EQD. I don't need the EQD for 2018. If I wait until January 1st will it count for 2019? Will my offer disappear? Any insight is appreciated.

Buy Gold Status for $699? Really????Any takers????

AA offered to extend my gold status for a year for $699. That seems crazy. Why would the lowest level elite status be worth $699? Has anyone taken AA up on such an offer, feeling that an extra year of gold status was worth it?

I have a 1500 mile flight next week, so I will decline, but I find the offer egregious for 219 miles short!
There must be a bucket of $16-$20k, 98k-99.999k EQMs because my offer was exactly the same. My numbers are $19,042 EQD and 98,377 EQMs. I'm on a paid F JFK-BOS flight this Thursday morning because I can't blow a day flying further west or south to get the miles. The cost was $450 and mathematically more sensible.

Agreed plus the 11x dollars for usable miles (i fly paid F for business to the west coast from NYC) - when my son and his family were living in Sao Paulo, my wife and I were visiting three or four times a year. With the SWUs (when it was 8 per year) we were 15/16, and I was another 6/6 (close call on my last return from GRU when there was a last minute F no show and I got bumped to J). My wife and I are also doing the same type of thing to Paris in March.

Can you spare time to do a PHX JFK PHX, and then something like PHX ORD PHX to get over the top for alot less than $2,795?

I am making a short F flight on December 29 (returning December 31) to get the last 1400 or so miles I will need.

I had no offer for the EQD/EQM below :

To an offer for Executive Platinum at $2645 with EQD / EQM below :

I still have two more round trip flights before the 31st and one flown but not posted segment so I should make it without a buy up.

2900 EQD's, 33,236 EQM, 6 EQS AA is really proud of their elite status as they want me to pay $699 to re-qualify for Gold. I might think about giving them the $100 I am short, but $700 is ridiculous!
