AA has now updated my offer to a Platinum Pro boost for $3215.
I am $2942 EQD short of PPro and 11.5K miles or 39 segments short of PPro. So the offer at least makes a kind of math sense.

Currently PPRO.
EQD - 18,813
EQM - 81,655
EQS - 76
Offer to EXP - $2,895
I think I said before, its a shame I cant justify it, because looking at rolling EQD figures, I suspect id do ok for domestic upgrades.

You might have to take it to retain - I was looking at some sample fares next week from ORD (your assumed location) and paid F just about anywhere is not to much less than their offer to you. And you'd have to burn the day or part of it.
I was in the same situation as you after last week's trip to PHX and I finished my mile run a two hours ago JFK-BOS in F - was $458, but I rode in front on the 328.

The miles that requalified me for ExPlat posted yesterday. I was very impressed to find that my 4 SWUs had been posted immediately. But less impressed to receive an e-mail today offering to renew my ExPlat status for $1,395.

Congrats on ExPlat again! The same thing happened to me when I qualified for Platinum Pro. I got an email the same day offering to buy up to PlatPro. Clearly a lag on the elite buy up site from the actual postings on our accounts. Probably a batch update for the buy up.

I'd like to think they'd automatically refund if somebody is confused enough to pay up, but I'm not convinced.

Curious if my trip to Maui tomorrow will trigger anything right before year-end.

Evidently. I got the buy-up offer a few days ago to "buy" PLT for $ 295, even though I qualified 2 weeks ago. When I logged into the buy up site, it showed me as GLD, even though I am PLT in the regular site. Clearly, those 2 sites aren't linked to pull actual status levels.

YTD numbers:
$8.2K EQD
86.7K EQM
65 EQS
Got two offers.
Plat Pro for $1035 or EXP for $4055.
Two observations:
$8.2K EQD
86.7K EQM
65 EQS
Got two offers.
Plat Pro for $1035 or EXP for $4055.
Two observations:
- The buy up numbers have been decreasing as I have earned more EQDs
- The offer can be accepted until 31 July 2019

I am a plat. However, this year I had only 18K miles and $1900 EQD and it was the beginning of Dec. AA offered me renew plat for $1300. Although I was going to be flying one more RT before Dec 31, I was still miles from plat and even close to not making it to Gold. I jumped at the opportunity. Most of my AA flying is business related in small RJs around the South. The benefits of plat on just the travel side (seating, boarding and international availability of lounges) made it obvious where I wanted to go. (For me the decision was a no-brainer.)
I already have my first trip on AA booked for Feb.

73 EQMs short of requalifying for Gold and they want $465 on elite.aa.com
EQD: $4,299
EQM: 24,927
Segments: 23
Thoughts on whether this is worth it? Any recommendations on a cheaper way to get 73 EQMs?

You can do a quick roundtrip to Boston on Christmas day for $111, or to DCA and back on Dec. 30th for $206. Up to you to decide whether the cost savings are worth taking a half day of flying.
