Upgrade with miles - Ambiguous current chart.

The current Upgrade with miles chart is ambiguous w.r.t. Premium Economy, which is listed in two columns (along with Discount and Full Fare Economy).

Can anyone clarify whether a premium economy ticket would have to pay the $$$s and many thousand more miles than the 2nd column?

Column one refers to discount PE (P class) column 2 refers to full fare PE (W class)

So, discount economy (H,K,M,L,V,G,Q,N,O,S, and mil/gov Y) and discount premium economy (P) fares can upgrade to next class of service on given aircraft for $75 + 15,000 miles. On those aircraft with PE available now, that means no more standard economy upgrades to Business for cash + points. This makes the A333 more appealing for mileage upgrades, when available, while it's still in the fleet...

A full fare economy (Y) or full fare premium economy (W) will upgrade to the next class of service for only 5,000 points.

It depends on which fare bucket of premium economy your ticket is booked in. If it's P on the ticket, then you owe miles & cash. If it's W, you only need to have miles.

That's just not true. Notwithstanding the wording of "next class of service." You can still upgrade from economy into business. You actually cannot upgrade from economy into premium economy using miles (or even SWUs I believe).

For now.

More commonly it would be 15,000 and no copay versus 25000 and $350 since PE is mainly on sale for international itineraries. Having the ability to book Y+W fares internationally and to then upgrade with just 15000 miles has been a nice consolation for the reduction in SWUs – frequently a Y+W has been very little more than a K+P fare (unlike W fares on BA which are hugely expensive.

I guess I read the chart literally, and I think we all know that this change of going from Coach to PE as a 'next class of service' will eventually be permanent.

Not until DL announces it. ;)
