No, not really much difference. WN has a new-ish reservations system, but they tend to publish future schedules at set intervals (well less than 330 days out like the other majors), and hence has far less schedule change activity.

We booked back in May for a Feb. flight JFK to DFW to Maui. Used our miles for first. I checked on line periodically and two days ago saw we were rerouted JFK to PHX to Maui, A route I did not want. Luckily our Dfw seats (last Two)were not sold and kind agent got us LGA to DFW to maui. Had I not checked that night, we would have been out of luck for that Flight from DFW to Maui

It's different on AA and DL from WN because WN has:

- one fleet type
- a max range of 143 to 175 seats, not 50 to 300
- and no assigned seats, so last-minute swaps can occur without inconveniencing passengers

In one example of superior IT tech, DL has long been able to let you scan an 'old' boarding pass at the gate and spit out the new seat assignment and BP instantly. That's better than an AA gate agent calling up fifty people to give new boarding passes in a different aircraft config.

I'm not even sure that flights booked directly with AA get the schedule change notification emails within x days or whatever has been proposed previously but regardless, congrats and it's really now an ongoing check to watch PNRs to catch these changes before seats on your preferred routes disappear.

Good luck on the trip!
