Unusual LHR-DFW Loads?

I booked a DFW-LHR-WAW R/T about 3-4mo ago. At booking, there were no PE seats for sale. I found that odd. I set a W/P fare alert in Expert Flyer and never once got a notification, though there were many open seats on both AA78 outbound and AA79 return (10 Oct and 14 Oct). Thankfully, my SWU cleared to J about 2 months ago on DFW-LHR.

I'm waitlisted for AA79 on Sunday (14 Oct), and it seems like the loads on this flight all weekend are really high. This is unusual for me to see (as I fly this flight a lot), especially in the fall season. W and P are pretty much 0 starting Friday, the 12th all the way through Weds, 17th for all 3 direct LHR-DFW flights.

On AA79, it's J0 Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon and Tues. Similar numbers for AA81 as well.

I find this odd. The seat map for my AA79 flight on Sunday shows 19 open J seats, but J0... so strange. Are there really 19 pax who haven't selected seats?

I guess AA is really killing it on this route in paid J and PE? Used to be a pretty easy SWU upgrade in the non-summer months.

Glad to see a fourth daily rotation coming on in a couple weeks.

I would happily pay AA to sit in J for these flights, but the prices for these dates were stupid high when I booked, and have been since. This is another reason I'm surprised so many of the flights are J0. Paying $7K+ to fly AA in discount J is borderline nutty, IMO. ...but YMMV.

EF lists Y7 / S7 / N7 for almost all 3 direct flights on 11 Oct - 17 Oct.

Seat maps show about 20-30 open Y seats for those flights, give or take.

Do BA reflect similarly high loads?

Doesn't seem to be... besides Sun/Mon. Something going on in DFW region Sun/Mon?

For AA81 & AA79 to basically be sold out of the 8F seats Fri-Tue is surprising. Especially with the prices I was seeing for prices for discount, advance purchase.

I’m not seeing much that would be an LHR magnet here.

Definitely not the Cowboys v. Jaguars. LOL

...I guess AA is just really selling INTL premium cabins well lately. I looked at some Asia and other EU non-stops to/from DFW for the same dates... lots of J0/J1/W0/P0.

My guess is the NFL game that weekend might be playing into this, I'm experiencing a similar thing the following weekend when we are going to LHR via CLT (when pax from BNA could funnel through CLT and since the Titans are playing...). Really a guess on my part.

Formula 1 in Austin 20-22 October would be bringing some people in. People making a week of it in early.

He's going the other way though. When I tried to book LHR to AUS back in May it was already rammed on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday. Have to go through DFW on Tuesday.

(Working turn 12, I think)

I can't say I've done an exhaustive study or anything, but I'm not surprised. Every time I've looked at DFW-LHR on Sat, Sun, Mon, F has been full or nearly so...and I'm usually looking 3-4 weeks out. And LHR-DFW has been full on Fri most times I've looked, again looking 3-4 weeks out. So they are often selling these seats, or people are using miles for them, or whatever.

Isn't there a oddly large contingent of Jags fans in the UK?

Reporting back on this... my SWU cleared around T12 for AA79 this past Sunday. There were about 8 other J seats open when I cleared.

Around 20 on the UG list when we departed, none of them cleared.
