oneworld® Ruby - 1st checked bag is complimentary

Hello, On the AA website it states "1st checked bag is complimentary for" for oneworld® Ruby members. Does that mean the I would get an extra checked bag on top of my flight allowance of 1 checked bag. Or does that simply mean if the 1st bag wasn't included in my flight I'll be able to have 1 for free? Just trying to work out if I'll have 1 or two bags basically. Flight is between LHR and CLT for extra info.

Thanks

The oneworld Ruby benefit is not additive. It gives you the first checked bag free on AA flights. If your particular AA flight already gives the first checked bag free, your oneworld Ruby status provides no additional checked-bag benefit.

You'll have one bag. No extras if your fare already includes checked bag(s), unfortunately.

Then you, um... get one free checked bag per your oneworld Ruby benefits, as repeatedly mentioned above. Not sure exactly why this is confusing.

If the fare includes a free bag, you get one total, so having Ruby status or an AA branded credit card doesn't matter.
If the fare does not include a free bag you get one total, even if you have an AA branded credit card or Ruby status

What if the fare includes 2 bags?

Yes, this is snark.
