Finnair price gap increasing
Has anyone else noticed the price gap on FinnAir code share flights vs. American (on the same AA metal) increasingly significantly? Looking at some ORD-LHR and some flights are nearly $400 more if booked on AA.

Always important to use Kayak to double-check pricing when codeshares are involved. I see week-to-week changes in BA, JL pricing out of DFW for American metal.

What booking site are you using? I am seeing some good fares on AY for a Europe trip in November (out on AY, back on AA or BA) but they are on various/dubious 3rd party sites and i have not yet been able to get finnair.com or aa.com to replicate them.
I have a related query- and not to highjack your thread- but it is an AY question with AA relevance as follows. Would a party of 5- where one is an AA PLT- get the additional baggage allowance for the whole party that would be granted on a flight marketed/operated by AA, for: An AY marketed flight operated by AY? An AY marketed flight operated by AA? (departing LHR if that matters.) Thanks |
It’s not just AY that can be lower. BA and IB can as well. Same AA metal, just a codeshare.
A coulle trips later this year I purchased dorect from BA and saved ~25% over the exact same flights through AA. Sometimes it pays to shop around partners. |
Do the codeshares get there own inventory of lower fare classes? If so, I could see them as priced the same originally, but the AA low fare buckets get used up more quickly.

Booking the codeshares as AY, BA flights means "marketed" by correct? If so, one needs to watch for EQM earning and EQD earning. Sometimes that's a win. Sometimes that's a loss.
