767-300 / 763 [opinions and general discussion]

merge this if necessary. I’m in coach for the first time in a decade with my whole family in tow PHL-LIS and this plane is a total dump. Like air North Korea. I can’t imagine Delta or even Frontier having such a pos in their fleet. Not to mention we had to take train to philly to avoid connecting in lhr.

Well, you still chose the train ride and 767 over other options (e.g. TP from JFK/EWR), so the plan of AA management plays out.

In your situation I'd be miserable even on Emirates or [insert highly-regarded airline here]

What's the problem with connecting at LHR? (unless you are on award travel)

when is AA going to dump those antiquated dinosaur 763's anyway?

Zacnlinc Aug 22, 2018 9:34 pm

Yeah... based on reviews here and on www.thepointguy.com, I've avoided this aircraft and when it's a "must" I've selected being up front. And it's been my luck that when it was sub'd in for the A332 on the to/from SFO/PHL routes, I've been up front as well.

I'm booked on it next Monday/Saturday for the SFO/MIA routes. Sitting up front on both legs and hoping that it's not sub'd for anything other than a A332
.

I agree. I'm hardly a connoisseur of birds like this, but I flew the 767 a few weeks ago subbing for the A332 PHL-LAS, and was extremely disappointed. No wifi, no IFE except the one channel for the whole cabin.

Just to add insult to injury, I forgot my laptop charger and couldn't even use my laptop without wifi, but that was my own fault.

Long walks, bus rides, slow security lines, rude staff

I hope AA keeps the 763s as long as possible, because they will be replaced with cramped in economy 787s.

I believe they are slated to be gone by the end of 2021 once all the new 788s arrive.

The 767-300 is the most comfortable aircraft in the fleet in Y.
Very small chance of a middle seat, good legroom, comfy seats.
I made do with no AVOD for … 30 years or so... no reason I can't now in exchange for a comfier ride.

I'm hardly a fan of the 763 in the back (will avoid as necessary) but sometimes I wonder how anyone managed to travel across the Atlantic circa 2005 without committing suicide.

Or even earlier, with just the screens & projectors and pneumatic earphones...!

Somehow people used to ..... less, about small issues.

It helps if you plan ahead. Wife and I went to Hawaii earlier this year (before the bad volcano eruption) on 767s. Picked out best economy plus seats with Seat Guru (Row 22) which had old em-power, but I prepared and got a cheap inverter on Amazon, so we had power for the flight.

ROTFLMAO! We even survived four engine prop aircraft that required several stops and many more hours transatlantic or Pacific.
