767-300 Long haul experience

Hello,

I am about to take a transatlantic flight on AA 767-300. I have heard so many bad story about the flight. Can anyone share their recent experience? Some bloggers reported that they would install wifi in 2018. But I have not seen any report that is actually happening.

thanks.

I took the 763 MAD-JFK earlier this week in J - it was fine and the bird had WiFi. In Y I'm sure it's a bit bleak and, I can't believe I'm saying this, at least you can stream something to your phone or tablet now that there's WiFi.

The overhead bins don't pop open and you can wash both hands at once in the bathrooms.

I flew AMS-DFW on a 763 in J last summer and found it to be a very pleasant and comfortable flight.

AA is logically not upgrading the interiors any further (e.g., by adding personal AVOD) given the aircraft are continuing to depart the fleet over the next two years.

Economy from PHL to ZRH. Basic Economy to be exact. Seatguru does not show that it has wifi.

The 763 Y seat actually has padding. And IIRC an extra 1-1.5 inches in seat width AND pitch. Haven't been an oasis F seat but the 763 Y seat sounds far more comfortable.

If it's in Y like any Y experience it will pretty much suck, particularly with no AVOD/IFE. If you can try to go for row 12 or 13 (MCE in the mini cabin). If it's J you will get a tablet and the seats like flat. The reliability of these a/c isn't all that great.

I think Y experience on this place is much better than any other AA plane. Well padded seats in. 2-3-2 configuration plus mini cabin rows 12-13. There is a WiFi on the plane and you can stream movies on your phone, tablet.
I agree 767 often goes mechanical but when it does fly it’s a great ride. I’ll take it any day over 772 or 773 in Y.

It’s very basic. Very very basic.

The seats in Y are comfortable. If you can get MCE, there is a decent amount of space, even with the person in front reclined.

No IFE / Wifi sucks. But, if you have an iPad, it’s not the end of the world.

No, it was AMS-DFW. It was on a 763 when I flew it.

I think by “last summer” @USFlyerUS is referring to summer 2017. It was flown by a 767 at that point in time. (Unless he means 2018 and it was simply a substitute.)

Oops, sorry, yes. I got my trips/years mixed up. It was definitely 2017.

Took it last year and was at bulkhead, so I was not too bothered with it. Just bring some readings/pre-downloaded shows. 6/7 hours go by fast - unless you are stuck in middle seat...
