AA125 DFW-HKG diverted to Narita Aug 17, cancelled Aug 18

Anyone know what happened to AA125 (DFW-HKG) on Aug 17 to cause it to divert to Narita?

I am assuming this diversion is also the cause of AA125 being cancelled today. A big bummer considering my upgrade had cleared and I was looking forward to enjoying the J product for a solid 16 hours.

Try being on this flight and being diverted to TPE where there are no AA staff.

You still can, for most of those hours. One of the benefits of clearing an SWU is that once you're cleared, AA will (usually? but I think by rule) protect your upgrade regardless of whether the cancel is mechanical. Heck, they will probably put you in J (such that you can earn J EQM, even) on CX or JL if you ask them.

You still have a benefit from your upgrade clearing, because you are now treated as a disrupted J passenger and have a claim to J rerouting. In fact, you may well be reticketed into a paid J fare and receive the extra EQMs.

Toilet between business and PE blew out and caused the diversion to NRT. I have a friend on board and apparently it was flowing into the aisle.

Was supposed to be on AA192 to LAX tonight and now delayed until 8:30 AM tomorrow morning...

Man, I fly 125 on Tuesday with my wife and daughter, hope it goes well, have a reservation at the Conrad in HKG that I’ve been looking forward too. Don’t wanna miss anytime in there.

I fly Thursday, checking in to the Conrad on Friday. I am completely grossed out by the thought of the aisles overflowing with blue water.

the 777 has vacuum toilets, so no blue water.

which makes the thought of stuff in the aisles even worse actually.

Man! That really stinks. (RD&H).

I wonder if they’ll ferry back to Hongkers (HAECO) to get it repaired?

If so, hopefully they keep it low and crack a window, for the crew's sake.

Off topic, but it's a great hotel, and if you are HHonors Gold/Diamond the complimentary breakfast buffet in the ground floor restaurant is excellent. Enjoy your trip!

Well, keep your expectations in check, as I didn't find the Conrad to be anything really special. I was DIA and it was a few years ago. The Exec Lounge was OK, definitely not GH HK or IC HK great. I was on the Exec Lounge floor and poked my head in there to check out the breakfast, found it rather ho-hum and grabbed a cup of coffee instead and headed downstairs where the breakfast was much better. It is nice to have the MTR downstairs, though it is still a bit of a walk through the maze. The evening lounge offerings were better, especially the made to order small dishes. Still, not Grand Club or IC HK quality level. Enjoy.
