Baggage re-check on INT-DOM JFK T7 & T8

Baggage re-check on INT-DOM JFK T7 & T8
A couple of questions, if I may:
I will soon be travelling LHR-JFK on BA, then JFK-LAX on AA, so arriving T7 and departing T8 (single ticket, all in F).

- I am aware I will need to collect my checked baggage and pass USCBP inspection at T7, but do I then have to drag my bags over to T8 to recheck them or is there a desk in T7 which will accept it ?
- If I do have to schlep over to T8, I believe I am entitled to use Flagship check-in. Is there any time limit as to how early I can recheck my bag there ?
