The airlines have been doing it for 20 years. And nobody noticed.

Adult detainees, sure. Groups of children, I hadn't heard that. In any case, it doesn't matter; the fact is, people will notice now.

If you really think that the only loss Delta suffered was a drop of minuscule revenue coming from the passengers who booked with the NRA discount codes...

The full AA statement has been added to the first post. AA is asking the USG to refrain from using AA to transport children separated from their families by ICE.

ONMI-suited posts will be deleted.

This is all about using the weakest, most vulnerable as political pawns. We all understand that. I applaud anyone who speaks up

I'm not trying to make this political in the general forum. But the New York Times is reporting that kids are still being flown tonight by AA.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/20/n...-new-york.html

Indeed, it seemed that children continued to arrive hours after the order was signed. Just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday, seven boys were escorted through the security gate at La Guardia after arriving on an American Airlines flight from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
So this seems to me to be more of a request than anything else.

Is AA going to interview every minor passenger so they can decide whether they're going to fulfill their contractual obligations or just refund the ticket and tell the kid to take a hike?

It's a PR fluff and anyone who believes otherwise is naive. AA is not stupid enough to get themselves sued for breach of contract.

It would be easy to check those under 18 travelling on a government fare and if the company has indicated that it is not going to take such passengers , for any tickets not yet purchased would likely be in breach of contract

ICE isn't exactly booking them as unaccompanied minors and dropping them off at the curb. Wouldn't we be talking about armed Federal agents escorting uniformed & restrained passengers? That would be pretty obvious.

I doubt it would come to a lawsuit given that DHS could effectively shutdown any airline in a matter of minutes by withholding DHS and CBP services. Probably won't come to that, either.

Breach of which contract? The GSA has contracted AA to provide unlimited tickets for unrestricted transport of prisoners who are neither government employees nor contractors? That would be news.

Regardless of the govt contract, doesn’t AA’s CoC still apply? The CoC gives them a fair amount of discretion over who they allow to fly. And I’m sure they could come up with some justification for denying carriage if they were so inclined.
