FA Charging For Liquor/Drinks in MCE

On my flight today I sat in a MCE seat. Having heard about the new changes to MCE with free alcohol I decided to try it out, but the FA told me I had to pay. Am I missing something or was the FA just not properly informed? It was not a regional flight.

Free alcohol is advertised on AA's website: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/...abin-extra.jsp

News reports say the benefit started June 5 (last week).

If you're asked to pay on a subsequent flight, you could do so, then write to AA for a refund after the fact.

I stand corrected. Looks like it started a few days ago/last week.

OP - What did the FA say when you pointed this out?

If the FA persisted, I would just pay up and then seek a refund from AA.

You don't have to be EXP or MCE. Beer is free for everyone on a transatlantic AA flight.

You should sue AA for false advertising. We'll all pitch in for the legal fees

Isn't one of the points of the FA's having tablets to prevent things like this from happening? I thought this was how they verified passengers were EXP for their free beverage/food up until now. Shouldn't really be that difficult...

I also wonder what happens if people self upgrade to an empty MCE seat. Do they get sent back? Does the tablet tell them whether it is supposed to be empty?

Now you must check what aircraft you are flying. Row 8 on a LAA A321 and you get a free beer but row 8 on a LUS A321 you don't. AA, going for great.
Chicago_Guy3344 and AANYC1981 like this.
