Last flight- At Gate (Verbatim)
Me: Hi! My wife and I are #1 and #2 on the upgrade list. I believe there are 4 F/J seats available. How does it look?
GA: 1st class has checked in full
ME: AC said there 4 open seats
GA: "They don't be knowin what they be talking about". Board with your group.
ME: In 3 minutes it filled up?
GA: You questioning me?
ME: Will you come and get us, since we are #1 and # 2 on the list, if we board now?
GA: I SAID 1st class is full. Take your seat.
Me: OK May I have your name , please? Your badge does not seem to be displayed.
GA You and your wife may be EXP, but if you don't take your assigned seats right now, you will not fly today.

Yup. When I become CEO of AA, Every GA in the system will have to re-qualify with 3 CK/EXPs before any customer contact.

That 4 F pax were friends with the GA does not mean that they got the seats because of said friendship.
I think if you give flight number and date, someone here can tell you exactly how those last 4 got their seats.
