They wouldn’t want any award travelers crashing the non-rev party up front.

Yeah I'm sure that AA RM is sitting there thinking we could A) open some seats up since we are unlikely to sell them in the next 24 hours (as you see they have done for tomorrow ) which also allows us to move some miles off our books or B) hold seats open for non-revs to piss off FF while simultaneously not removing some liabilities from our books x1000

conspiracy theory always attracks attention but could not produce any evidence. So I am calling you to present evidence of your statement.

F7s T-1 on three SFO routes and not one award seat released! Now that's stingy.

Isn't Math wonderful? It is so ... constant.

Yeh, but what are the loads going out? If they sold everything it just shows the success of the Revenue Management algorithms.

Must be nice for the passengers in that cabin who actually paid for their tickets @:-)

Don't look spectacular that's for sure. Cabin that is completely unsold can't be good for business.

Saver is what AAdvantage was originally conceived as when it was the first true FFP. Seats which the carrier can't or isn't likely to sell. It's hardly a "shadow", it's a reflection of an economy on screech.

AA is far better off overbooking in high Y / J fare buckets and using OPUP's to avoid an oversold cabin than releasing the saver seats early.

And that's fair enough but t-1 is early? With an empty plane to boot?

I don't buy that characterization of the original FFP. They gave them on all flights - it's true sold out flights were much rarer, but they weren't hoping for ZERO redemptions. That's what they are hoping for now.

Which i do not understand. At T1, you aren't going to sell 7 seats in F. So why not let someone burn miles and get them off the backlog?

it doesnt cost extra to put someone there

This.

They may not do a ton of revenue F, but they can sell the heck out of corporate J and flexible Y on those routes. Roll 'em over and you have an extra 7-10 J/Y tix you can sell.

As someone with AA miles to use I don't like it either, but that's business...
