Best time for getting bumped in April
Is it the obvious week after Easter or does that not matter really. Is there still going to be spring break traffic the following week. Also is flying thru ORD a better chance I'm going from PHL/EWR to AUS/SAT . Thanks for any advice on this. I got bumped over Christmas and now I have the fever lol

Time of Day is a big factor. Bumps are more common later in the day, as people misconnect and/or get rerouted.

It's like trying to chase rainbows. If there were some easy pattern that guaranteed a voucher AA would have figured it out and reduced overbooking for that day of week/time of day/route.

Not looking for a guarantee just an idea of when my best chance is. I'm not going on this trip just to get bumped bur I have flexibility and wanted to increase my odds. Obviously in September your not going to get bumped because most flights are empty. I flew on Southwest to MCO last month and there were 65 open seats going both ways.

Book on a flight which is completely full and requires a full spare crew to be sent as "must fly" to retrieve passengers stuck overseas.
Seriously. Anyone who tells you that they have an even remote clue is trying to outsmart RM/IM software for which AA paid $ hundreds of thousands. The flight that you book late on a Thursday xPHL because it as capacity now, may turn out to have 75 misconnecting passengers due to a delayed inbound from LHR. |
