I don't know what the budget is, but I do personally know Bobby and his palate/sense of understanding is very strong. He'll do everything he's permitted to do.

Is it even legally wine at 12.5% ?

Until AA is willing to up the spend per bottle, I can't see this making much difference.

Only via a seance...

As others have said you can have the world's best sommelier but if they've got a $5/btl budget to play with then not much will happen. That said, AA's investment into ground F&B has me crossing my fingers...not sure why I care though because I can't recall having wine on AA even once.

Good news, IMO. I always thought Ken Chase was awful - Chase's choice was frequently undrinkable swill. Even within the price bracket AA manages to regularly find the worst of the worst to serve.

I certainly believe that. There are quite a few 90+ rated wines in the $15 - $20/bottle range but then one realizes that only 500 cases of a particular wine were bottled....

Just go to Costco and buy 90+ sub $15/bottle. No need for master somm.

W/S ratings are just about useless when picking what wines to drink.

I definitely think that is the biggest hurdle. Most of the large quantity produced wines just arent that great in my opinion....even if they do get a high rating. AA goes through a lot of wine so that limits their choices quite a bit.
