Combine 2 fares to 1 ticket when aa.com can't? (End-on-end, combinations)
 

I'm looking at 2 O class fares SYD-LAX-SYD and LAX-LHR-ARN-LHR-LAX which separately cost about $900 each. If I attempt to book the itinerary as a single ticket on aa,com it returns a fare of $US9000 all sectors booked in Y class.

With the desire to use a single SWU on SYD-LAX-LHR sectors is it possible to put 2 separate reservations on hold and have someone in the backroom combine them into a single SWUable trip? Or do the fare rules on these cheaper fares usually preclude combining?

The SYD-LAX and LAX-ARN O fares do not allow end-on-end ticketing.

I'm trying to book a flight XXX-YYY-ZZZ for April all on AA metal, and AA is pricing it at about $600, but much cheaper as separate segments (about $120 for XXX-YYY and $200 for YYY-ZZZ). Neither is basic economy.

To facilitate baggage check-through, does anyone know of a way to price and ticket them separately on the same PNR? I've tried ITA, Google, Expedia, Kayak, AA, and all force it on the same ticket at the higher price.

You should be able to purchase each segment separately and — at check-in — ask an agent to check your bag to your final destination.

They may be able to price it in the needed fare buckets?

Do the fare rules permit end-on-end ticketing? If no, then potus18's suggestion might be the only way

I believe AA does not allow through checking a bag on separate PNRs anymore.

Only if on the same PNR. If you buy each leg separately, then they will not through check it.

Can confirm at least one instance of the airport refusing to through check for two separate domestic PNRs. This was back in September '17 for LAX-MIA & MIA-ORD with a 2 hour layover in MIA. The supervisor at LAX specifically said that this was to discourage customers from purchasing cheaper itineraries. So there probably was a memo that went out at some point in time.

However like with everything else, it's going to be highly variable. Bet you can still get bags checked through on occasion. Just don't count on it.

Sure, a layover of more than four hours. You're trying to avoid AA's fare rules and revenue management tactics. They don't want to make it easy.

My mistake. I misread the introductory paragraph.

Anyway, the OP is trying to circumvent the ticketing rules that AA has put in place. You may be able to find a way to ticket it, but AA's intention is for you to pay the higher price for that journey.

It sounds like the basic question here is "how do I get around end-on-end ticketing restrictions?"
