Just made EXP / Executive Platinum! Resources, ask questions, brag (2018+)

First, a hearty welcome to Executive Platinum status!

New Executive Platinum members, whether "self-made", via your Concierge Key nomination or made by AA offers, including challenges, to similar status holders from competing airlines, often have questions about how the program works.

Feel free to post your questions here, but also be aware many of your questions about American Airlines, AAdvantage and Executive Platinum status can be answered in these resources:

Made it last week and still have 3 more segments, $5500 EQD and 18,000 EQM to go with some more domestic trips unplanned but bound to happen. This will third year with over $40,000 and CK will continue to be elusive.

Next week I start this: AUS-LHR-DEL-HKG-SYD-HKG-ICN-HKG-DFW-AUS

Segment 1 will put me past the EXP thresholds.

Do I need to do anything to have EXP show up on the remaining segments? I don't expect BA to notify AA of the miles until segment 3 time frame, but it would be nice to have nicer lounge access and be higher on the priority list for upgrades.

Requalified a few months ago, but made EXP for first time on segments.

How many here are EXP's on their own dime vs OPM? Now that would be a impressive feat. I'm certainly not one of them as OPM counts for 60% of my status level.

Requalified last week for the 10th straight year. Been on my on dime for the past 8. With the exception of a couple domestic trips, all have been TATL with the 1.5 EQM and 20% EQD factor. Looks like I'll be able to meet the new requirements for next year if I just repeat this years activity.

Finally hit lifetime platinum!

Own dime here.25% business travel (I own the companies), the rest leisure. Not sure will make it for 2020 with the new $15k spend and Barclay's falling back from $6k EQD to $3k. I'm not spending $40k on Barclays for $3k EQD.

Since I fly AA domestic segments that have little chance of (sticker) upgrades, I will consider earning OW Emerald through another carrier.

Great news today. Received my offer from AA to get Plat Pro for 2019 with a $1,195. What a deal. Sorry AA, but I've already have an ORD>HAN trip in Dec booked, which will put me into EXP territory. This is both my Feeble attempt to use SWU DFW>NRT. And a chance to check off another country on my list. I booked JAL I on return. I heard it's an awesome product.

All of the EQDs are worrying me. I'll finish the year at 21,000. Looks like I'll be bottom of the barrel.

My wife and I are both AA 2MM EXPLAT, all on our own dime(s). For 2018 I'm trailing her $18,000 EQDs and $145,000 EQMs--I have more award travel than she does.
