Just made EXP / Executive Platinum! Resources, ask questions, brag (2018+)
First, a hearty welcome to Executive Platinum status!
New Executive Platinum members, whether "self-made", via your Concierge Key nomination or made by AA offers, including challenges, to similar status holders from competing airlines, often have questions about how the program works.
Feel free to post your questions here, but also be aware many of your questions about American Airlines, AAdvantage and Executive Platinum status can be answered in these resources:
● Link to What are Executive Platinum / EP / EXP benefits? Are they worth it? (consolidated) thread on FT
● Link to AAdvantage Elite Status guide and charts on aa.com
● Link to "FAQ: American Airlines and AAdvantage - Please check here first!" thread.

Since the 2018 New Year re-set, my EQM, EQD, EQS counters started again at zero. But the pre-populated "target" numbers are for Platinum Pro, rather than the higher targets for re-qualification for EXP. Anyone else notice this? I would expect the target to be the same as current status. Vaguely remembering something similar to this software bug last year.

We went through this last year. It takes ur base (either aadv nothing or your MM status and goes from there. Makes sense if u think about it as if u did no flying u would end up with what your base status is.

In reference to my question about "Expanded Award Seating Availability"

I get that it's super rare, but does expert flyer at least accurately display this? Or do you truly have to call for each request?

I have had some luck with it over the years, even in 2017, so all hope is not gone

EF shows the standard award inventory, available to anyone who wants to claim it, not the "hidden" Expanded Award inventory that in theory is made available to EXPs. To check, you need to call the EXP Desk.

It will probably be March for me again this year. I'll be on a segment grind for the next several weeks. At 3k EQM on 4 EQS. Will end January with 12K EQMs on 16 EQS.

Just made EXP. Phew!!! Every year it's getting harder and harder, especially since I don't fly for work anymore. OTOH, Cathay was very nice to upgrade me to Biz on my last leg for 2017, HKG-SFO.
12,427 EQDs
119,141 EQMs
34 EQSs
Total money spent: $10,968.97

My wife and I finally got credited for an AY HEL-LHR segment that pushed our EQD for requalifying for EXP through Jan 31, 2019. I was assured by AA CS that it would eventually happen, but wasn't too much fun having to wait this long (flight was on Nov 1!).
Apparently AY had switched a ton of flight numbers on Oct 29th, and their systems thought that the new flight number assigned to our flight was a non-earning "tourism/group travel" flight based of the old flight number assignment. Found out about the issue on FT, and was able to work with AA CS to correct it, but still took almost a month to get final resolution!

I forgot to screen shot my status before it reset in January. A Japan trip got cancelled, last minute, and I *barely* squeaked into EXP with a whopping 370 EQM to spare
