Anybody Doing Any Interesting EQD/EQM Runs This Year?
Realizing I was going to be $586 short of Platinum Pro, I found it necessary to book a MCI-PHX-CLT-MCO-DFW-MCI EQD "run" to put me over the top (EQM's are already at 75K). Anybody else doing any creative EOY EQD/EQM "runs" this year?

No -ing way. I will not give an airline a single incremental dollar in revenue nor fly a single unnneccessary mile in some chase for "status."
Any dollar spent on mileage runs would be far better spent just buying up to first class tickets (especially first class tickets on airlines better than AA)
I'm well across the EQD threshold for Platinum but short on EQMs. I'm perfectly happy to remain at Gold and smile at the long list of 30+ EXPs on an upgrade list for a 16-seat cabin where I will be sitting thanks to FCM!

I really wish my company allowed F purchase on Domestic itineraries. More often than not, I DO buy F/J for personal travel but for work trips I have to rely on the long-shot upgrade coming through. You're right, it sucks but I'm doing my best to make travel as bearable as possible, lol.

I always end up doing at least one JNB run per year.
I love it!!!

If your company policy doesn't forbid it, you could always upfare out of pocket. The difference is often quite reasonable.

I’m in Shanghai right now on a MR/mini vacation. Flew AUS-LHR-PVG on BA PE. Another FT’er met me at LHR, she flew from ATL. Then we went straight to Disneyland after we arrived 😉
We both had good luck with hotel upgrades here too.
Now I’m dreading the return late Sunday/early Monday.

I was on the cusp of EXP (needed EQMs) and noticed a crazy same-day SFO/DFW fare on Google Flights. SFO/PHX/IAH/DFW/LAX/SFO for $90 ($44 base fare, O class). Jumped on it, got upgraded on all segments (including DFW/LAX 789!), and made EXP for the first time.
