Despite EF showing many unassigned seats in J, AA doesn’t have any J seats for purchase and their seat map shows a handful more of assigned spaces.

I assume they rolled over the J pax from yesterday’s flight and simply haven’t assigned seats yet.

There's no way AA makes money on this route, IMO. It's completely just there to attempt to flex some kind of muscle to WW and FI as they (finally) penetrate the DFW fortress for LCC INTL travel.

Sure.. but IMO since they are already operating it at a loss, they may as well try to poach passengers from the others. The incremental cost of a half full plane vs empty is pretty minimal.

So I expected they would be capacity dumping. at 1200 RT no one is going to choose this vs Icelandair or WoW. In which case, why fly it?

I bought my ticket in February for October for $390 DFW-KEF RT.

SWUs have cleared on both legs.

I bought our tickets in March for Mid June departure for $520 each which being Platinum and getting free luggage and MCE seat assignments would be cheaper than what either airline could offer. I am hope non weather related flights go smoothly, will be monitoring.

There are some 390 RTs out there (like @MichaelKade found) but I do not understand this pricing model. At. All.

Based on the crappy loads I see I'm surprised your SWU didn't clear to sit in the cockpit.

Is there enough -any?- business travel between DFW-KEF that AA could be trying to just take advantage of company travel policies? Typically you won't see a company put someone on IcelandAir or WOW, the company has a preferred airline they use, or at least they typically prefer you to book the big 3.

Doubtful.

Me thinks this is the hottest non-rev ticket of the summer season for AA employees - especially the millennial ones. Iceland is Instafamous with that crowd.

KEF off to a bad start

Inaugural June 7 DFW-KEF - looks like it didn't leave until 12:25pm on June 8 after some talk about stopping in Bangor and then not stopping.
DFW 820P A A15
KEF 915A
3DFW/ETD1225 CSV-DELAY DURING CUSTOMER BOARDING *1222
4DFW/OUT1225 OFF1246 *1246
1KEF/INTMD LNDG AT BGR PRE0145RMKS GAS AND GO
2KEF/ETA0106 *1521
2BGR/PRE1651 *2222
3BGR/ETD1725 LAE-PREVIOUS DELAY OF THIS AIRCRAFT *2230
1BGR/OVR BGR TO KEF PRE0050 MTR-DELAY DUE TO A/C MAINTENANCE *
2308

This made the first return cancel on June 8 and the June 9 have a 4 hour delay due to crew rest requirements.

Ridic? Asking over $10k per person for SMF-DFW-KEF in August one way in Business fits the bill. So, we spent miles. (We cruise from Reykjavik to NYC via Greenland, Labrador, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New England.)

Did some more poking.. DFW-KEF

6/15 - Friday: 2 open seats in J, maybe 10 in Y
6/19 - Tuesday: 6 open in J and 20 in Y
6/27 - Wednesday: 3 open seats in J, maybe 15 in Y

So loads aren't as horrible as it looked above.
