2018 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of EOY 2017)
"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.
In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer was extended for the 2017 programme year, and the 2018 offering is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers. To see if you are eligible and to see what your offers are, go to https://elite.americanairlines.com/e...ewal/login.cfm
NOTE: “Plus, your purchase price will count toward your Rolling Elite Qualifying Dollars, helping improve your upgrade priority.” - AA

Offered $1,075 to remain Plat. kinda wished they had offered to buy up to Plat Pro. Just curious what the price would have been.
Not sure if I will buy up. I don't have any more flights this year.

Offer is to maintain Platinum for $995.00... but nothing beyond that (thought they'd offer a price to go up one level to PlatPro). The thing is, I know there are no guarantees that people will fly already ticketed trips, but I'm thinking there should be a way for their IT system to take that into account when calculating the offer being sent... in my case, I'll cross the Plat threshold between EDQ and EQM on a flight I have booked in a couple weeks. Might be beneficial to AA if the offer page for someone in my situation said something along the lines of "maintain Plat now for XX" and "based on ticketed upcoming trips through Dec. 31, move up to Plat Pro for XX if those flights are flown" or something to that effect.

Data point:
Current Status: EXP, requal for Gold for 2018 so far
EQD: $4200
EQM: 57000
EQS: 32
I was offered Platinum for $1299 + tax = $1363.95.
I have a BA PE run to JNB through LHR next weekend which will put me into PPro, so why on earth would I bother? Now, if they offered me that same price to buy up to EXP from PPro, I'd take it to save me a weekend CX/BA overseas run. I suspect they won't offer me that bump up - and since even PPro is useless for me, I'll just do another run between now and Jan 31 to requal EXP. I'm still considering making the jump to AS anyway.

That's interesting, I guess current status is taken into consideration. I dropped to Gold this year since I switched most of my flying to DL. I have $569 EQD, ~3800 MQM, 5 segments, and got the $699 offer for Gold.

Platinum now, already with enough EQDs for Platinum Pro. They have offered to upgrade me now to Platinum Pro for the low, low price of only $1,645.
I will either make Platinum Pro anyway with the trips I have planned or it's possible my situation will change causing me not to fly nearly as much next year. Either way, paying for PlatPro is not going to happen at that price.

I'm currently EXP and at $11,679 EQD and 95,766 EQM. Got the offer today for $1395 to extend benefits.
I've got additional travel planned that will reqal me so I won't be taking AA up on their "generous" offer. :|

Was surprised to receive the offer so early. In past years, I've gotten it in early Dec -- but only when I was over 90K EQM. Could that be the thresh hold for who gets EXP? There's got to be a minimum cut off.
Sounds like a mileage run is in order for you...!

Currently PP with 120 EQS, 81,025 EQM, 11,465 EQD and a round trip this weekend that will push me up to EXP anyway. $735 offer for EXP. Seems silly of them to even offer it being that I will make it Sunday evening anyway.

That seems odd that you don't have an offer. Are the early offers only for people short on EQD's?

I plan to take another trip in December. I don't have it booked yet, but I'll re-qual as EXP anyway.

Got an offer for EXP renewal for $225.
Not too bad actually. 95 USD more than the needed EQD. If I wasn't going to travel anyways again this year, I'd nab that.

No. I’m 90,671 EQMs and $14,361 EQDs with nothing booked yet (but with at least one 3,500 eQM trip. My buyback was $1,798 to maintain current EXP status. If I’m short, I will do a MR for a fraction of that amount.
