2018 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of EOY 2017)
"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.
In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer was extended for the 2017 programme year, and the 2018 offering is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers. Free standby by itself saved me hundreds of dollars in 2017. For city pairs with frequent flights, I often choose the cheapest flight of the day, then simply stand by for a later flight and show up to the airport whenever I am finished. As a platinum, I was always 1 or 2 on the standby list and always cleared. As far as I know, AA is the only airline that offers no fee same day standby for later flights with no questions asked.

For those that bought the offer, have any of you checked your online activity? My offer stated that my "base purchase price will count toward your Rolling Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs), helping improve your upgrade priority." However, when I look at my online activity it back-dated the purchase from the actual date of January 22nd to December 31st. So, now those EQDs are in the wrong year.
Wondering if this happened to anyone else.

Presumably though that still counts towards your ROLLING total, which I've always interpreted as meaning the amount you've spent over the last 365 days. So if it's credited on December 31, it means it factors into your rolling EQD total until December 30 of this year. It doesn't affect your elite status qualification but it would affect your upgrade priority this calendar year. That number just isn't published anywhere public (as far as I know), so if you want to know what it is you'd have to manually keep recalculating your spend over the past 365 days.

Interesting, my offer stated it would expire on 31JAN2018. I have surprisingly just received an email giving me an additional 5 days from today to buy up. It is of course for the same $1765.00. 
Seems AA is still out there trying to get buy-in. LOL

I just got a Plat Pro buy up offer, probably the third or fourth one they have sent, still the same amount of $995, I missed PlatPro by 5k EQM and still don't think PlatPro is worth paying 1k extra for.
