2018 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of EOY 2017)
"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.
In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer was extended for the 2017 programme year, and the 2018 offering is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers. I also looked at my offer for fun. Kind of surprised it’s actually decent! Fortunately, I’ll be well over with upcoming travel.

Currently just over 100K EQM and just under $10K EQD.
My "offer" is $2,995. LOL, yeah no.
I'll pick up the rest of the EQD in the next couple of weeks, so of course I'm not taking the offer. But no way would I have anyway.

I'm way over in EQD and about 18k in miles with 4500 miles booked. Offer is $495 for gold. I am looking for a reasonable platinum buy up. Might do a challenge but would prefer a reasonably priced platinum buy ($750 or so) -- anyone know if it might come if I get much closer to 25k for 2017?

More data.... $4500 EQD, 33.5K EQM, 16 EQS. Offer was $1299 for Plat and I'm currently at Plat and obviously re qualified for Gold next year. Fortunately, I have a MR to HNL next week (shhhhh, don't tell Doug) and a TATL in 1st just before Christmas that should see me requal for Plat.

Even more data.. my wife has $10.5K EQD and 66.5K EQM and 13 EQS. Her offer was $1345 for PPRO. Luckily, she is on the same TATL in 1st as me in Dec, so that will get her over the hump.

$858 EQDs and 10,425 EQMs... Plat offered for $1,995 or Gold for $699.
Its clear my travel has taken a nose dive this year with only 2 paid domestic r/ts - shifting life priorities.
Interesting with such a low activity they are willing to offer me Plat. Maybe it is because of my current EXP status.

Bay area based Platinum. got it via challenge last year
EQM 30k , EQD $2264. my offer was $699 to Gold and $1299 to retain Plat. Gold is in line with missing EQD needed and Plat offer isn't terrible given how little EQD i have. if only i could get enough value out of plat to justify paying $1300 lol.
