2018 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of EOY 2017)

"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.

In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer was extended for the 2017 programme year, and the 2018 offering is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers. To see if you are eligible and to see what your offers are, go to https://elite.americanairlines.com/e...ewal/login.cfm

NOTE: “Plus, your purchase price will count toward your Rolling Elite Qualifying Dollars, helping improve your upgrade priority.” - AA

List of members' offers for 2018 program year to be added below. See end for 2016 offers.

List current status, EQD & EQM / EQS, $ required for buyback or boost and status offered:

My next pair of BA PE flights posted last night, putting me about 1000 EQD short of PPro (miles ok). My offer updated again to $1295 + tax for PPro.

Crossed over into requalifying for Platinum. New offer for Platinum Pro: $1765.

Current/final totals for the year: $6,060 EQD ($3K from Aviator bonus), 50,449 EQM.

Anticipate I'll hit EXP by the first week of December, with ending EQD of about $18k, probably 110k EQM, and another 12-15 flights before year end - meaning I worked my butt off for the EXP, and while I'll hit it without having to do it the painful way of segment by segment, that's still a ton of flights.
My offer has been revised from $2495 to $1795 with the following stats:
16,789 EQD, 91,489 EQM, 75 EQS

Am taking a trip next weekend that will add @20k EQM, taking me over the line fir EXP. Will also have a few other December trips that will add 3-5k EQM, with an expected year end close of near 20k EQD, 116k EQM, and 85 EQS. Phwew.

From reading this forum, you'd get the idea that _nobody_ is accepting the buyback offer. Yet AA offers the program year after year. Surely _some_ folks accept it (else AA wouldn't bother). C'mon. Fess up. Who _accepted_ AA's buyback offer?

Not yet, but I probably will. Right now it's a bit more than half the price of the PQD's I'd need.

There is no way for you to make this statement, FT is a very small community of travelers and I'm sure there are many people who have or will take there offer. I know I will at their offer since I won't make PLT on travel. I like being able to select MCE seat at booking.

I'm sitting at 43,000 EQM with only a Christmas flight scheduled. It's either a mileage run or a buy up for me, unless I wanted to stretch for Platinum Pro. From what I can tell, basically no one on the board thinks it is worth stretching for Platinum Pro, so I will just take whatever Platinuim offer AA has for me in January. Hopefully it will be in the $500 range.

I have a Platinum Pro offer for $1,645, which is more than I'm willing to pay, but I have some more travel before the end of the year so I'll check back in at the last moment to see if the price has come down significantly. The problem is, it's partner travel close to year-end, so I'm thinking it may not even post to my AA account in time to be taken into account.

EDIT: Just remembered the cutoff is actually January 31, not December 31, so I probably will get a revised offer.

I've actually taken the plunge to go over to United as a gold currently and going to take it up to 1K next year with finances in better order and more travel. I font travel at all for work, so it doesn't matter who I fly. I hate what AA has become

Mainly the thing that pushes it over is RewardsPlus and I've had much worse performance the past year with AA vs UA with not single UA delay and about 30-40%% AA delays DFW/ORD/YYZ/LHR. Also their million miler is better, and in general if I'm going to be overpaying for Y seats from BE, I want the program that will let me gift my sister status when I earn it it the next 5-7 years of flying

This. Plus the people taking the offer don't know what a milage run is. Which is most people.

I will hit PPro on the 12th with a trip. When I get back from that, I am going to see where I stand, what they are offering, and what I can mileage run to hit EXP. I normally wouldn't put much time, effort, and money into this but I want to send my wife and mother in law to Israel next year and the SWU's would be great. If I were as smart as some of the experts on this board, I would know exactly where I will as far as EDQ and EQM, but this trip involves a partner flight.

I know what they are, but I do not have the time to one. Once I factor in the cost of ticket AND my time it's cheaper to pay the fee.

Current status: EXP
EQD: $11,913
EQM: 139,577
EQS: 61

AAdvantage Executive Platinum Total Cost: $225.00

Not a terrible deal for someone that doesn't have any trips planned for the rest of the year but I am expecting some UL flights to post plus I have another trip scheduled next week that will push me close to $13k EQD.
FWIW, before my last international trip which added about $1,500+ EQD the "offer" was somewhere north of $800.
