2018 Program Year Elite Status Buyback / Renew / Boost (as of EOY 2017)

"Grace" for those close to completing status requirements has not been offered since AA began the buyback / renew / boost program.

In previous years, AA (and US) have offered those who failed to requalify for elite status the opportunity to buy back or "boost" status for the following status year. That offer was extended for the 2017 programme year, and the 2018 offering is be discussed here. E-mails have gone out to many members (16 Nov) with tailored offers. To see if you are eligible and to see what your offers are, go to https://elite.americanairlines.com/e...ewal/login.cfm

NOTE: Plus, your purchase price will count toward your Rolling Elite Qualifying Dollars, helping improve your upgrade priority. - AA

List of members' offers for 2018 program year to be added below. See end for 2016 offers.

List current status, EQD & EQM / EQS, $ required for buyback or boost and status offered:

It depends. If your routes are hub to hub, probably not. If your flights are to those secondary/tertiary cities where there is first class offered, Platinum Pro receive unlimited complimentary upgrade requests. Whereas Platinum only receive the complimentary request for flights < 500 miles. I typically receive upgrades between those smaller city pairs, so it would be worth it to me. I did a MR to hit EXP this year - only because I'd like to see if having EXP will make a difference in getting those upgrades on the longer domestic flights. We'll see... there are an awful lot of EXP and CK fliers out there...

After doing my HI MR on Monday, I've added 6K EQM and $350 EQD, but my offer is holding at $1299 for Plat

Does the offer repricing happen instantaneously? Or does it load once a day?

Not a good offer!

Current Status: PPR
EQM = 89,474
EQD = 9,316
EQS = 40

Offer for EXP: $2,855.

Tickets booked for another 14,806 EQM and roughly $1,200 EQD by 12/31. There will be no shortfall for EQM but I may need about $1,400 EQD to make EXP.

Not an attractive offer! AA isn't acting smart!

It's pretty clear from the offer that they aren't giving offers where you are short EQDs that are anything less than the amount of EQDs you are short. Of course that is silly if you can do a cheap partner flight in E+ or biz that yields a multiple of EQDs to fare paid. But they seemingly are drawing a line in the sand on EQDs and making you get over by (1) flying AA fares (2) flying partner fares or (3) paying the full difference (plus some in many cases) that you are short.

Offer for Plat. Pro - $1645

I've been EXP for about 10 years, but work travel has been slowing down the past couple of years requiring personal mileage runs. I'm about to retire the end of the month but I still plan to travel quite a bit in 2018 for pleasure. I cannot travel the rest of the year and even doing a mileage run plus the added expense of paying enough to get the EQD from base fair seemed too difficult. I'm not sure how easy or hard it will be to get complimentary domestic upgrades or high enough on the list to use miles + copay on international flights, but I decided to go for the boost. I figure $1645 was okay as I still was quite a bit out. The mileage I could have easily gotten with a cheap ticket to the West coast or Europe, but trying to meet that dollar amount, plus the addition of a hotel and time away during the holidays when in reality would have been too much.

I am confident that for just one more year, I will travel in comfort.

The best part is I have a paid J trip to Singapore in a week on them. They didn't bother checking the offers apparently against their own purchased tickets.
I cant believe the posts have gotten this far without this comment. So we have all the offers that look like no one wants to take, this seemed to be a biased sample.. do we have any offers that look like they make sense for anyone.

Here is my example:

Current status: -- (none)
EQD: 919
EQM: 8,586
Segments: 12

Offer for Gold -- $2,215

For the rest of this year, I have a couple flights booked with :EQDs:$618, EQMs: 4,598, EQS: 8

I laughed. Like I am going to pay 2,215 for a being at the back of the line for cabin upgrades.
