Oh I love this! Makes me feel so good about actually flying the BIS miles and spending the money to qualify. Glad AA values my business!

Received the same offer with Platinum Pro status. Didn't fly a single flight on AA metal last year.

I got one too, but for Platinum Pro status.

I would like to try it, but may not be able to since my travel is going down significantly this year. I am Platinum with Delta by the way.

Got this too, for Platinum Pro. No current status with AA or oneworld. Currently 1K with United.

Flew 1 flight on AA last year to keep AAdvantage account open.
Year before that, was Platinum.

AA sends this type of offer out every so often, typically to folks with little to no previous travel on AA, as echoed in the comments above.

The email came at a great time. I actually had booked at RTW on OneWorld for the first time (usually a *A person). The flights begin in a few weeks and end May 25. I will thus be able t block in the status through 1/2019.

Sure. I don't see any reason why not.

This pops up a couple of times a year mainly for people with no travel on AA. The goal is to entice travelers to use AA for their business.

In theory you can do it and then do a status match/challenge with Delta.

Looks like PlatPro gets DL Plat as well. They did recently add a spend component though.
