AA buys two new LHR slot pairs from SAS for $75M

http://atwonline.com/airports-routes...hrow-slot-sale

(This article doesn't include the buyer, but it's AA)

As far as where they'll be used, no one I asked so far is giving even a credible hint, thus far.

Just to clarify ... the $75M purchase price was actually for two slot pairs, not just one.

Which route will pick up a flight? Increased frequency to JFK? MIA? LAX? (my guess is probably not ORD or DFW or the LUS hubs)

SAS gets to keep using the slot pairs for three years, so don't hold your breath.

And why shouldn't the LUS hubs get a little love?

This is awesome. There will be two more LHR flights where AA can zero out premium cabin MilesSaver inventory every month over the entire schedule.

Seriously? AA has the best hard product to LHR from the US for sure with the 77W and 772 retrofits, which I believe are all that fly into LHR these days. And I think the soft product is better than BA/VS/DL/UA and whoever else has flights between US and LHR.
