For two people, non-BA travel, fall of 2015, as mentioned in my OP post? Not seeing it. So clearly I'm an idiot/newb fishing for search help...

For some people the right choice is a competent award booking service. Such a service can do the work and help reset expectations if you have bound the search problem (many travelers/small departure airport/date inflexibility/wrong alliance/class of service...) too tightly. Good ones know the search tools and know the carrier networks.

Domestic MileSAAver availability to DFW on AA only available before 11/18/15?

I am trying to figure out what's going on here. Wife is trying to do a short trip to China in Nov and has an award ticket on hold with CX to JFK right now. The problem (of course), is there is nothing from JFK to DFW. I have been digging into this and it appears that AA has only loaded direct flights to DFW from JFK/LGA/EWR through Nov 18th (and many other major cities in the US - LAX, SFO, ORD. MIA seems to be an exception and is working for some reason until the 27th). This does not make a lot of sense to me. When I dig deeper, I find that the only saver awards available after that time are all US Air ways connecting flights and those all seem to be very early morning flights mostly. There appears to be LOTS of saaver space on 11/18 and before as one would expect to see, but only AAnytime after that. I know it's Thanksgiving a week later, but I don't see how this is related really. Also, according to Expert Flyer, it's not that there are 0 seats (all filled)... it's that they haven't released anything at all (Z and T are missing completely on 11/19 and after). F and Y are available to 331 days.

Any ideas what is going on here? Her hold expires tomorrow night and we need to get this ticketed since she has last two seats on the CX flight home in J (so cannot extend hold). We just want to get something to DFW at all (who cares on routing) and then switch her to a direct flight domestically later.

This does not follow 331 day opening (which i know is not hard set) or any other pattern I can figure out...

Sorry if I missed something posted elsewhere, but this is confusing and in a bit of a time crunch. We've noticed that the 18th to 19th is the switch date for a few days in a row still (have been hoping that it would roll forward and keep moving a day, but it's not).

Edit: For our immediate problem, I think I have found some options by looking at lot of routings through random airports in the central and eastern US. I think we should be able to ticket something to DFW, and I've got my alerts setup on EF for the direct NYC-DFW flights. Will report back.

I'm not sure, but why not book it now with the NYC-DFW portion as a connection (via MIA or CLT). If a nonstop saver award opens up later, that change should be free.

That they can open award inventory at the 331 day mark does not mean they will open saver award inventory. Relevant to that is the Thanksgiving holiday November 26th.

Agree with both points 100%

They're certainly not bound to release even the smallest # of award seats on dates when they may have reason to believe flights will be sold out, etc., etc.

As others have said, book the flight with a connection, then find the other later. If you're using AA miles and don't find the NYC-DFW direct flight option, make sure to look for HKG-ORD/LAX/SFO and then onward from those cities to DFW, particularly as you get to T-14 days and closer (all the way up to T-1). For my most recent flight to HKG I found F seats LAX-HKG the night before I left and changed to it, after nothing showing up in F every day until then.

That's not even available either unfortunately. I guess we can book the return for another later date and then move it back when it opens though.

Edit: and wife caught me on this one, can't do return more than 24 hours after she gets to JFK. So looks like we will have to book something entirely different possibly.

Ok, thanks. Admittedly I try not to travel around Thanksgiving on purpose so I don't have that much experience booking domestic flights for around the time, but this seemed odd to me a 7 full days before Thanksgiving. I can understand the week and weekend before, but a full week seems a bit much.

Yeah, looked into ORD/LAX/SFO and all of those have zero saaver after 11/18 either. Definitely agree with making changes at T-14 if needed.

Success! Got CTU-HKG-JFK-ORD-MEM-DFW in F... have setup EF alerts on NYC-DFW direct routes to change to later. Crazy....

And for those interested, most of the NYC-DFW flights are not coming up in EF at all still. The 18th is still the last day with any saaver availability on all major routes to DFW.

Question why SCL plenty Bus/First availability, but EZE zero?

Why is there basically zero EZE Bus or First availability on AA metal (after a few days out plus spotty days within a few weeks out), to end of schedule, while there is plenty to SCL?

Does it have to it with planned plane swaps?

Or does it have to do somehow with the economy in Argentina?
